P_Marlowe
pass, due to a lack of a sensiblebid, give me a 2nd heart and I bid,e.g. 2S, but the single doesnot make3H a good contract. I am not brave enough to try 2NT, andeven that may show two hearts. With kind regardsMarlowe
Gerben42
Passing may lead to many missed games. 2NT, partner saw the vuln.
mikeh
Pass Hate to but have to: may miss a vulnerable 3N, but my hand has a lot of negatives about it.... close to 2N, and wouldn't criticize anyone who bid it... however, for me, 2N is highly invitational (invite heavy, accept light) and partner will get us to a minus far too often.. and it may be a doubled minus if hearts break poorly. As it is, while I expect LHO to pass, he may reopen, and the odds are they will be unhappy.... I should probably double 2♠ although I suspect that I would be too chicken at imps... and I will certainly double anything else, including 2N. jdonn
I would bid 2NT. So many of us are so adamant about what good hands partner's overcall can/should include, especially at this vul, so why are we not backing up that talk from the other side of the table? And not only for finding the game we could easily have, but if partner rebids a minor we can simply improve our contract.

I will pass but can understand bidding other choices. Expect partner to have 5 hearts and an opening hand.
pclayton
I hate it but we have to pass knowing full well that we could have game in 4 strains. 2N is tempting but I need a fitting heart card. Im not biddng 2N to improve the contract. If hearts arent running, 9 tricks are probably out of our reach. Of course pard may have 3 spades and 3N could be a spread. Hopefully I passed in tempo so that LHO considers a balance.
skjaeran
I know very well how good and bad a hand partner might hold for a 2♥ overcall. It's quite a wide range. On the worst hands we might go down in 2♥. But I'd invite game here. So 2NT it's got to be. The upside is that we might get to a makeable game and that we might change a losing partscore to a winning partscore. The downside is that we might change a plus to a minus or a minus to a bigger minus. It's close, but I think 2NT will be the longtime winner. goodwintr
That no positive bid is attractive is no excuse for passing when there might be an easy game somewhere (or even an easy slam in a minor suit). It isn't as if you would be giving up a sure-thing contract (2H) to try for game.

Close for me as well, but I agree with your fine analysis that 2NT will be a longterm winner and note that we can bid less than 50% Red games at IMPs should PD carry on. But, i should pass anyway.
