TD's Wish List

Recommended Posts

:D As a rookie BBO TD, I'm a little sheepish to be here suggesting enhancements but here goes .........

My TD Wish List:

1 - A Director controlled delay between players being seated at their tables and the players being able to see the first hand. This would be used for the Director to give instructions.

2 - A set of editable text (chat) macros (10-12) that are owned by the TD name, each one tied to a hot-key or PF key. The Director could pre-enter standard repetitive text to be used when running the tourney and insert the lines of text into the chat line via the hot-key/PF key on the fly.

3 - A good set of greetings and basic tournament instructions in several languages for those of us who are mono-lingual. I think Gweny has been working on this.

4 - A change to prevent Director calls from causing whatever task the Director is working on from vanishing

5 - A time clock at the table level

6 - A way to tell which tables are behind without table hopping - say a blinking table #

7 - An adjustment request button at the table which requires the player to fill in the pertinent information to be communicated with the adjustment request, i.e. Table #, Board #, etc....

A big Thank You to Fred, Sherry and especially Uday for all the conveniences you have already provided to the TD's!

 1. Would be good, but a (n already planned) way to modify the Conditions of Contest can do it
 2. Use RemoteKeys, does everything you want, and more. Maybe you can then share the macros you create with fellow TDs. Also a good tool to create alert macros of your own bids.
 3. See 2.
 4. Agree
 5. YES!!! Please! :D
 6. Would be handy, but it is still duty of players to call dir on time issues
 7. Shouldn't be necessary for players to remember in what table they played. Maybe put table in the movie, or allow dirs to get the movie of a player. Something along these lines would be done eventually. DISCLAIMER: I'm not a programmer (here), so can't be 100% sure.

Use

Item 1

Item 2
etc
for a numbered list. Also a,A,i and I work instead of 1

7 - An adjustment request button at the table which requires the player to fill in the pertinent information to be communicated with the adjustment request, i.e. Table #, Board #, etc....

When players call directors, they have a space to fill in pertinent information such as reason for calling director. Write there?

Also, TDs who wish to adjust score should probably review boards before adjusting and not just adjust immediately based on 1 side's request.

I only have one wish

For people to read the description of the tournament I post.

I set up an Acol tournament. One pair played Acol in it.

I set up a tournament for those who were playing previously before a crash

You can imagine the problems I had

:D Yes please to macro or ability to COPY it is much work if you hit send/chat at wrong time and you need retype things like who win tournament.

Yes please clock for lobby of tournament. Potential problem with this request is not all sections is maybe same time remaining in round. however I think we all very happy if it only show lowest time remaining...

On topic of director call... please maybe you find way to limit number of director calls per table within certain time frame? Today when system is experiencing problems it is impossible to do anything with all multiple calls certain rude people make. even better if person do x number of calls they is boot tee hee (in very short time frame) people do not seem to grasp if they continue to do this we no ability to do work

On topic of adjustment we need help. people do NOT remember what direction they sit and forget it for what table they play at. Maybe if director may see my hands prior to end of tournament? I think point frosty is making if player is force to fill out form then td may quickly make adjustment vs 10 min back and forth with player trying to extract info we need vs LARGE amounts of extra things we no need for. typically conversation go like this.

P: "I need adjustment "

TD: ok what board, what contract, etc

P: they down

P: we set

P: we make

P: we +100

this list is endless and this is if player speak english!

If we some graphic form then language barriers is overcome.

then instead of call to table maybe td see "request for adjustment" and player do this vs td spending long time extracting info from player. :D

Thanks for all you hard work!

hi,

7. displaying tablenumber in movie wont help in survivor as tables where the hand beeing played can be out of play , better would be to allow tds to watch the players movie( i really dont know how hard it is to do so in advance sorry uday for making this remark), problem solved and you can discuss it with players while beeing there at their table so play isnt slowed down because of this sometimes back-forth talk about a result.

another thing i would like to see is some time between actually ending of tourney and results been displayed so if needed one can go to travellers if missed an adjust cause of time , maybe even an overview of all AVG still in there so we can quickly adjust , takes about 3 minutes or so to adjust lots when u have nothing else to do, something else when u put on options players at bottom = south u really wont need any directions of players , its all in there , when i adjust i always use s for n/s and e for e/w to keep the paste going and always after seeing mobie of hand played, no tablenumber no adjust with me but off course all are free to adjust however they like or run their tourneys the way they want(thx for pointing this out in the topics mike  )

take care:) :D B) :D

hi,

another great improver would be that before call to td is made a player actually has to write(if not no call is made) something in there and we td can reply on that as we see fit, if we get a call that a finesse didnt work  yes, it happens we then could private that player wheter or not its needed to visit that table, i ask this because i find it very stressfull to come to a table when several calls are waiting and the problem is solved(of that table) and we simply dont get an asnwer when we ask if there is a problem, when i call a td when playing i start typing things i want to say and when td arrives i simply click chat(in case space needed was longer then chatbox in call directors box can handle)

maybe let all bbo`rs host one tourney and see for themself lol

with respect to the issue of giving the rules before the beginning of tourney we with BBO_ITA and BBOITALY have created of the link with the regulations and who creates a tourney has the obligation to write the link that example refers those tourney: http://www.bridgebase.it/news/cko.lin for the regulations bilinguist for the issue of the words to say tourney I use word I have translate the phrases Italian English and use copy glue that all the much fastest one renders me. :P

hi,

replie to sceptic number 8, i feel that most if not all td wish to list those players(leavers) , i do it , i send mail and second offence i bann them from my tourney`s but most have a way for dealing with that differently, so all these players get a change a doing that several times to each director before that td blacklists that player, i feel the need to work on this togheter but as long as only the td who are regular host in our tourney`s do it, we `re not gaining much .

9. plaese make it impossible for blacklisted players to get on the sublist, i got one who seems to be getting pleasure to slip in between to mess things up, and as we send invites we have no way of stopping this B)

 • 3 weeks later...

HI

Ok. now my tern for wish I have only tree :D

1/10 When I press movie I would like to see alert and explanations for bids.

2/11 When I’m on table I wish to see time play used by N/S and E/W then I know who play slowly. Best when it work for each board and later is accessible in Movie.

3/12 When somebody go away I want to know if this person really escape or lost connection.

More TD wishes:

1. Anyone not online two minutes before the tourney is removed from the list, leaving two minutes for people who are actually here to sign up. If you plan a tourney of 30 tables max and it fills, often you will only have 20-25 tables when it begins, and a bunch of people who wanted in but whose spots were taken by people who didn't even bother to show up.

2. In unclocked movements (especially in individuals) the option to include hospitality breaks every x rounds (specified by director). During one of these breaks, anyone more than five minutes ahead waits before moving for the next round; the move takes place five minutes before the next round, allowing other players to catch up and less chance of replays, while keeping the fast players ahead of the slowpokes.

3. Table chat and player-both_opps chat auto-recorded at each table and available to TD when called. I'm not so much thinking of verifying that bids are properly explained as I am thinking of verifying that a rude comment was made without relying on the players to give you the facts.

4. (as elsewhere requested) Permission required of the Director before a player who was previously playing in the tourney joins the sub list. As it is, in an unclocked movement you could be booted from a fast table, get back on, join the sub list and be drafted by a player (with the Director completely unaware) into a hand you have already played. Better would be to have such a player contact the Director and let the Director make him the next sub manually at his discretion.

5. An option to squelch lobby chat from non-yellows while in a tournament. Major BBO announcements are fine, but do we really have to hear over and over again plugs for concurrent tourneys, sub requests for other tournaments, "come play at xxx's table," requests for players to join team games, ad infinitum? No, we don't--at least not while we're playing in a tourney and not supposed to be going anywhere for a while.

Hear! Hear! for McBruce's suggestion that players not online 2 minutes preceding a tourney to be dropped from the registration list. I'm beginning to feel like a caterer - upping my tourney limit to accomodate for the downward flux in the numbers of cheeks that actually make it into seats. My only addition to this is to suggest that it be 3 minutes for Pairs events since the abandonned partner will have to find someone to play with before they can sign up again.

Its rare that I don't have to turn players away during the last few minutes before a tourney begins - but there is no way to be sure how many tables you will actually have and TD's have to be realistic about how many tables they can handle effectively. Sadly these same players who didn't get into the game can see that the number of tables don't match the preset tournament limit and I've received more than one grumble from a disappointed pair that could have played if the spot wasn't taken by someone who was not online.

Great suggestion!

WISH (2) - A way to adjust a score for a pair (or a player in an individual), and not for the opponents (for example, to be able to substract 10% of a top for "bad manners"). Or to adjust against a pair that reached a superior contract through U.I., and not in favour of opponents who took a wild and gambling action after that.

Hear! Hear! .... Great idea a running list of open calls rather than pop-ups :-)...... If you do that then we might lose the information the "caller" has recorded (reason for call) - but perhaps it could be displayed in the chat at the table when the Director responds to the call.
