skjaeran Posted June 24, 2007 Report Share Posted June 24, 2007 That really depends on the situation - how many cards dummy hold in the suit, how many cards partner can be expected to have etc - and, not to forget, if we're defending a suit or no trump contract. If I give a negative response to a top-of-sequence suit, and partner continues it, I play whatever I think will confuse declarer the most, since partner is obviously enamoured of his suit, and I will no doubt have a chance to give him an honest signal by the time he runs out of said suit (usually my first discard). Declarer seems to be holding up until I run out of the suit, so I don't want to do anything that will let him know my count.
