Fluffy
I don't see the benefit of doing anything other than opening 1♣ and keep on rebidding spades. Whenever partner has 2 spades (the most likelly holding), it is probably better to play 4♠ spades than 5♣, but partner will never figure you have 6, and he won't let you play on a 5-2 fit when you are likelly ruffing the initial lead (that is suicide). Sure. I can buy that. But I can't wait to see what people bid when their LHO opens a possibly short club.
helene_t
I have no problems with 1♣ and if partner expects me to open my 6-card with (almost) all 5M6m hands, I may open 1♣ with this one. 1♣ followed by 4♠ would describe the hand reasonably well, then. I have a slight preference for 1♠, though. It's preemptive, it's the lead I want, and it shows a suit. I would certainly not pass unless I have specific reasons to think that partner expects me to do so. I'd rather open 5♣, then,
P_Marlowe
Like what seems to be the majority, I also passed and as I hinted in the previous post, the auction proceeds: P P 1♥-P-? 2C is certainly reasonable being a passed hand, intending to bid spades later, partner will get the message. With regardsMarlowe Playing Drury, that would be a really nice description of my hand. Having passed initially, I'd bid 1♠ over partner's 1♥ opening and rebid ♣'s later.
