firmit
Blogs are great - really great! But not ideal for displaying a layout of a hand. I got a solution for you. And it is EASY! I have written a small script where you easily can get a unified-look on all your hand-layouts. At the moment, only a E-W are done as a test-script, but more will be made IF there is ANY interest. Inquiry and all you others: please - do not let GUI stop you from writting squeeze technics, displaying an example hand in your bidding system or alike! Maybe this will help! Examples: Blogger example Google page example PS: currently not been able to hide the border around the iframe in IE. In Firefox, which IMHO is superior to IE, it looks perfect! For those wondering:the script is located at firmit.ifastnet.com/bbf. They host your files for free! And with php-support. That means that it is possible to write a dynamic script: generate the deal you actually want to show. In your blog, you got the option of EDIT HTML - Here you insert an iframe which points to the location of the script. Try out this link: http://firmit.ifastnet.com/bbf/hand_we.php...xx.AKxx.Axxxxxx. and edit the hand in the url. e= is the hand in east, suits seperated by a dot. w=west - which has gotten a void in clubs in this link (note the last dot!). Try it out - change the hands the way you want.
inquiry
that looks great.. i will give it a try.. and add the squeeze hands etc to my blog if it works for me... :(
firmit
:( let me know what features you like - and what I can do better in the GUI. Or if you'd like - bidding- fullhand layout - onehand layout- option layout W and N or S Edit: THIS IS OUTDATED - see http://firmit.blogspot.com/<p><iframe frameborder="0" style="border:none; PADDING-LEFT: 0px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px; MARGIN: 0px; WIDTH: 350px; PADDING-TOP: 0px; HEIGHT: 110px" src="http://firmit.ifastnet.com/bbf/hand_we.php?e=KQJT3.543.QJ32.T&w=xxx.AKxx.Axx.xxx"></iframe></p> This code in Blogger will get you startet! Edit2:As a side note, if you want to have more flexibility, you may generate the deal with the link alone, and copy the html into your blogg. More work maybe, but an option if the border in IE bothers you - or for any other reason. Edited June 11, 2007 by firmit

inquiry
Large update - http://firmit.blogspot.com I am struggling along, trying it out... Got the one from yesteday workng. Going for the full hand, all I can get is W and N. Also on your page, I can't see the east hand (but if I cut and paste the text from your description into a browser, I get all four hands. It looks like it is getting close, it is probably something I am doing. For instance, when I try to publish it, I get the following error message.... Your HTML cannot be accepted: Tag is broken: <iframe style="PADDING-RIGHT: 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 0px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px; MARGIN: 0px; WIDTH: 166px; PADDING-TOP: 0px; HEIGHT: 133px" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" src="http://firmit.ifastnet.com/v2/template_deal.php?deal=W:T987.AKQ.T32.732|654.T98765.AKQJ.|32.J.654.AKQJT98|AKQJ.654.987.654&vulnerable=2&seats="SN" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" > </iframe >
firmit
you got the size of the iframe wrong - chech the heading at my blog - it says what they should be like for each layout. edit: there is space in the ending tag: </iframe > . it should be </iframe> PS: working on Auction
firmit
Auction done. A little tip. If you don't like the iframe - cut the url, and type it in a new window. Then view source, and copy the html including the tables ( but not the possible ad at the bottom) If anyone got questions - pm me. If anyone plan to use this - let me know so I may see in action :P If you like to be able to edit css yourself, let me know - otherwise - enjoy! inquiry
Thanks for posting the auctions... I still can not see EAST hands on your blog page. Can you see them? The first auction is messed up too on your blog page when I look at it. I am not ignoring the font size of the webpage, and I can see all the other hansd, plus part of the SHDC symbols on the EAST seat/ Ben

Anyone else got the same problem?http://firmit.blogspot.com/ Edit: remember to set the SEATS=WE or WN or WS - or NOT the set the parameter at all. If left out - it shows entire layout. inquiry
Well I almost had it... Here is a link http://bboinquiry.blogspot.com/ I had the hand (all four) and the auction which displayed fine while editing the blog. But when I posted it, all the hands but WEST disappeared. Here is the text of the blog as posted. ------------------------- <iframe style="PADDING-RIGHT: 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 0px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px; MARGIN: 0px; WIDTH: 250px; PADDING-TOP: 0px; HEIGHT: 200px" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" src="http://firmit.ifastnet.com/v2/template_deal.php?deal=W:T987.AKQ.T32.732654.T98765.AKQJ.32.J.654.AKQJT98AKQJ.654.987.654&vulnerable=2&seats=WSNE" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe> By George, I may have got it.... <iframe style="PADDING-RIGHT: 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 0px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px; MARGIN: 0px; WIDTH: 150px; PADDING-TOP: 0px; HEIGHT: 90px" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" src="http://firmit.ifastnet.com/v2/template_auction.php?auction=W:p|1H|3C|3H|p|4H|p|p|p|X|p|p|p" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe> North with a comfortable ZAR count, opens 1H, and WEST feels compelled to double with three trump tricks, but that is all he will get. firmit
Yes - you almost! Fixable! Each hand should have 13 cards - separated by a horizontal line " | ". Edit: Thus: W:T987.AKQ.T32.732|654.T98765.AKQJ.|32.J.654.AKQJT98|AKQJ.654.987.
inquiry
Interesting. I had copied the text directly from your blog (with vertical lines), and previewed it ok. I think, but am not certain, the problem arises when you switch from HTML to compose format. Do that and the vertical lines in auction and hands go away. I fixed the auction one, but didn't notice the hand one. It is now posted.. and looks ok in my browser.

I can't fix that blogger eliminates the vertical lines ... maybe I can change the character to prevent it from being deleted.
firmit
Template generator. IMPORTANT: this is the old one! Will not be updated.http://firmit.ifastnet.com NEW SITE:http://firmit.awardspace.com Does everything for you - makes the iframe correct ( I hope ) and produce html code if you rather want to include that. Copy and paste! Also the separation character for each hand in the deal tag, is now either "|" or "," (comma). Edit: the comma won't magicaly VANISH in Blogger when switching between Compose and Html edit. :) The iframes are included in a div tag. If you include in the style of the div-tag the option "float: left;" you will get the text wrapped around the tables ( deal or auction ). inquiry
I haven't tried the template generator yet, but I have used the templates to make a squeeze-type entry (but not in my squeeze blog, but in the normal one). It is SOOOOOO much easier than the way I was trying to build tables. This is a link to the test squeeze post using the templates.... http://bboinquiry.blogspot.com/ Thanks Firmit (I have been copying and paste the text and just changing the hand so far, so that maybe as quick as the template thing, but I will certainly give the template generator a try soon)
inquiry
I just used the template generator to create an entry in my blog. It was quick and easy. As an almost added bonus, hand posted here are easy to export to the template maker, just need to edit some commas to periods. For some reason, the template thing seems to add a slash at the end of EAST's hand from time to time. DONT go the compose page and edit it out, or you risk losing the entire thing (I cut and paste the html for the post). Anyway, I think bloggers will find these tools very useful. I sure do. It is now easy to post stuff. Oddly enough, IF YOU LEAVE OFF THE FINAL QUOTE WHEN ENTERING THE HAND, THE HTML CODE STILL WORKS AND YOU DON'T GET THE BACKSLASH. firmit
Important:firmit.ifastnet.com will no longer be updated. I can't stand the fact that they try to push an ad at the end of each page. Therefor - the new site is firmit.awardspace.com - Here you will find the exactly the same as at ifastnet. If you have created a lot of iframes, please change the domain name from "ifastnet" to "awardspace" in the src="" in the iframes and the img="" for the html copies. Edit: and it is faster!Edit2: having some trouble with the images - I think awardspace are blocking them... they can't be fetched. However ifastnet works for the images... man, I picked two free webhosts that had one huge flaw each...but combined...
firmit
Phu - a lot of troubles lately - but maybe it'll work better now! Still hosting the generator at http://firmit.awardspace.com. The images are now hosted at another site: http://photobucket.com/ This seems to work fine! :) and no unwanted, sudden ads, or redirects... New feature:For all you Bloggers - blogspot - I have created the CSS which can be copied and pasted into the TEMPLATE->EDIT HTML in the CSS section. This way, you only need to copy the BLOG-HTML when posting a hand. The auction will also be implemented shortly.

firmit
New feature:For all you Bloggers - blogspot - I have created the CSS which can be copied and pasted into the TEMPLATE->EDIT HTML in the CSS section. This way, you only need to copy the BLOG-HTML when posting a hand. The auction will also be implemented shortly. Can you translate this into English please? Of course! (unimportant)Html is just a markup language - it specifies the structure and somewhat the layout of the data you want to present. You may edit the graphical apperance by adding some parameteres into the "style" option. Example: If you want to write the symbol of hearts, and make it red, you wrap the heart symbol, "♥", into a span tag like this: <span style="color:red">♥</span> (unimportant)Now - all this "red" and "blue" and height, width, font, spacing etc, are normally placed outside the html-document - more specific into a layout document, which is called CSS - cascade styling sheet. Here you may specify how you want your web page to be view and presented. Example here would be that a normal online-newspaper would have different CSS for two medium: internet browser, and a mobil-browser. Two different css-files handles this. Now - back to your question. Blogger's got a feature where you can change the "look" of your blog. This I believe you have testet. The data however, stays the same, but presented somewhat differently. Further more, you may change and edit this look exactly to your liking. This is done by editing the CSS-template. Go to your DASHBOARD - goto - LAYOUT (or post etc) - Then select TEMPLATE ->goto EDIT HTML. In this textbox, you may edit or append information! If you add the CSS definition ( only once! ), you only need to copy a small part of HTML code vs the huge load of html code with styling, that you have been doing. This also gives you room to manipulate and edit the layout to your own liking (do not do this if you don't know what you are doing! ). The CSS is copied from the Template generator ( Blogger-CSS-template ) and pasted into Blogger. This needs to be placed at the correct place, or else it may have serious consequences! If not sure how - don't. I might make a Tutorial for doing this sometime this weekend.

Free
Just tested the HTML code, and when I publish it, the background color of the table (not the hands) is white. This is really ugly if the rest of my blog is light blue, and when the table itself isn't centered in that white square as well :)
Dwingo
I was browsing Ben's blog, where he isattempting to use th enew templates. Can the font size of the cards AKQJ1098765432 be increased?
