pbleighton
When I logged on to BBO, I got the message that they will be available 6/15. Will all of the ACBL games be Mid Chart now? Peter
inquiry
Apparently just the two listed game each day in the time slots given... They will be identified by the life master pairs nickname I guess, but anyone can play... just midchart stuff allowed...
Vilgan
I'm kind of looking forward to this. Hoping to play against lots of people who play multi, so we can get used to defending against it. Eric
keylime
Question for the group: The onus on providing defenses will be on whom?
pbleighton
Question for the group: The onus on providing defenses will be on whom? And how? The alert boxes have so few characters available. Peter
Gerben42
Great idea, now if only they would not be at 2 AM European time I'd play in them. So far the main reason for not participating for me and I'm sure many Europeans was the GCC restriction. Question for the group: The onus on providing defenses will be on whom? I suggest those requiring defenses keep a link to the ACBL website. On a more serious note, I like Todd & Atul's idea of writing a suggested defense in the FD file. Being able to quickly publish the link to the Defense Database looks best. I've given up suggesting defences to Mid Chart conventions that do not require a published defence, such as transfer-walsh. My experience at the NABCs is that people are either good enough to already have a defence, or so rude when we do not have a defence, that it is not worthwhile. hrothgar
Few quick comments here: 1. Folks need to carefully review the ACBL Midchart. (A) Not all methods on the Midchart require a suggested defense. As I recall, the ACBL uses an astrix to distinquish between Midchart methods that require a defense and those that don't. For example, I don't believe that players are required to provide suggested defenses to methods like the Kaplan Inversion or transfer Walsh responses to a 1♣ opening. (B) If a Midchart methods requires a defense and a defense is not posted on the ACBL's defensive database, then you can't play that method. PERIOD. You don't have the option of submitted your own defense as a supplement. 2. Personally, I think that the best course of action is to provide a link directly to relevant page on the ACBL's Defensive Database. (I do wish that someone could do a better job formatting that information) 3. There was a discussion a few monthes back about the use of the Full Disclosure application during ACBL tournaments. At that point in time, the policy of the ACBL Online tournaments was the the FD app was not sufficient disclosure. This may have changed over the past few months. Gerben42
As this is an ACBL tournament, I think it should be the suggested ACBL defence if you are going to put it into the FD file. Yes I agree with this. In case of the Multi 2♦ there is not enough room though, maybe you should just give a link to the ACBL-site in the chat. About FD files in general, I've heard that they are not welcome in ACBL tourneys. Anyway, there should be a guideline for the Midchart events that people must follow. The more I think about it, I think the guideline should be: * If you play pre-alertable methods, either post them in a chat or post a clickable link in the chat that fully describes the method. * If you play pre-alertable methods that require you to post an ACBL defense, seperately provide this link to your opponents. (Maybe add that players are responsible for damage caused to others by clicking their link)
Guest Jlall
Surely you can't really use FD in ACBL tourneys?
