Support dbl usually only applies under 2♠ if I am not mistaken - so I am not sure what a dbl would be here if not for penalty or points-showing. Also, one should have an agreement of what passing actually means in this situation.

 

Anyhow, a 3♠ seems right. E should not have any problem bidding 4♠. But then again - what do I know...

Ditto. I am shocked at how often I see people bid 3 or even 4 under pressure on this auction with minimums and three trumps.

contra you should be ok

the question is, what do you want to bid?

#1 3H, suit length / quality is not really apealing

#2 3S, should show real support, 4-3 fits are ok,

but only if you can use the hand with short trumps

to ruff, they will force you in diamonds

#3 X, should be t/o and stronger

#4 3NT, ... you dont even know, that your side has the bal.
