Apollo81
3NT. It's quite likely that either RHO will have no entry to his spades, LHO will have a singleton Ace or King, or partner will have a spade high card.
jdonn
I am quite certain 3NT would be unanimous or nearly so in any expert poll.
pclayton
If pard could tell me he has a stiff spade and 3 hearts, I'll try 4♥. Not armed with this information, I'll try 3N.
whereagles
I'm gonna pass. My lack of controls may jeapordize 3NT and if pard, marked with short spades, has some hcps, he'll bid.
Guest Jlall
I am quite certain 3NT would be unanimous or nearly so in any expert poll. I think you'd get some votes for pass, but yeah 3N for me as well.

jdonn
I think there are two problems with hoping partner will reopen. One is that he may have Kx of spades which he will downgrade but we know it's working. The other is we have heart length, even if partner is short in spades he may be short in hearts also so not be able to reopen.
whereagles
The other is we have heart length, even if partner is short in spades he may be short in hearts also so not be able to reopen. That's life. On the plus side, we stay out of trouble in all hands where pard has 6-7 hcp ;)
Foxx
3NT, but not happily. We could easily be in the wrong game (if we should be in a game at all).
Dwingo
OK, from the other side of the table. You passed initially, now you hear pd overcall 3NT over 3S. Do yo move forward, If Yes, how? the hog
Pass 3NT. Any bid would be a gamble. Sure 5D is a great contract, but that's why people pre empt.
gwnn
I would have passed NV/NV. But then again I like opening most unbalanced 10 counts :P (of course partner can have 10 hcp balanced which might make game good, but that's life)
jdonn
Partner has to pass 3NT (what if our minors were Kx AQx?). It's just one of those things. I'd rather be in 5♦ or 4♥ than 3NT, but I'd rather be in 3NT than defending 3♠.
skjaeran
Pass 3NT. Any bid would be a gamble. Sure 5D is a great contract, but that's why people pre empt. Ditto.
Chamaco
Incidentally, 3NT is not unmakeable, and not the worse contract one has ever played :-) From our combined length in diamonds, it is likely that RHO is stiff in diamonds and not hearts (likely shape: 7=2=1=3). In this case, after the spade lead (ducked by opps), we'll count 8 tricks, 1 spade, 5 hearts and 2 clubs. I guess cashing the hearts and taking the club finesse for the 9th trick should be reasonable.
dake50
3NT bidders surmise a S-suit shut out after the opening lead -- no duck to keep communication, no side entry by S-preemptor. Or S-preempt missing S: KQ and 10!Double wins way often. Especially if 3NT response under preempt is a bal hand -- not stop promise. And 3NT reopen does not promise S-stop under preempt.
