My partner and I were sitting in direct and advancer seat. Our hands were as follows. I would bid 5C the first time this has a two point effect. 1) you have a 9 card suit, you only want to play in that suit you have no defense.2) you dont give the opps an opportunity to bid anythin at the four level making their decision much harder. I agree, I don't get 9 card suits too often. And making life hard for opps is sometimes very fun thing in bridge.
