pclayton
Please read the other thread first. Say you pass the 1♣ opening . It continues, pass on your left and a reopening double by CHP. RHO passes, you (deliciously) pass and LHO pulls to 1♥. Pard tries 2♦ and you close it out with 3N. The opening lead is the ♥10: [hv=d=e&v=e&n=s8652ha42daq9872c&s=saq3hkqdk3ckj8753]133|200|Scoring: MP[/hv] You win in hand. Plan the play at both pairs and IMPs. jocdelevat
I have hard time reading opps patern hands however the sum of our points plus opener leaves LHO zero out or maybe 1 point. I can count 8 clear winners and see communication problem. Plan 1. I play K diamond and if both opps follow I will continue with ace and q and then give a diamond in case 4-1. Then the moment i got lead I take the heart honor with ace then play remaning diamonds and lead a spade to aq. So I should have 5diamonds 2 spades and 2hearts. Plan 2. If one op doesn't follow diamond so diamonds 5-0 .I pray lol. I was trying to solve with 5/0 diamonds but got no way out. I thought more for plan2. if diamonds 5/0 should be LHO so same as plan 1: kd first then smal and put 9 for second diamond if LHO doesn't play j or ten. If diamonds 5/0 with rho then really is no way out.
whereagles
I don't think RHO can have 5♦. He would need to have 6 clubs for his 1♣ opener then
Fluffy
At IMPs I would just paly on ♦ making 2♠, 2♥, 5♦. At MP I will think deeper, and cash ♦K, ♥KQ, and another diamond if diamonds don't work, hope LHO to be 2542 without a honnor, cash ♥A, third ♦ , and play 3 rounds of spades, in the end we will make 2♠, 3♥, 3♦ and at elast 1 club. pclayton
Win the heart and play diamond, diamond. If diamonds are 3-2, we have 6 diamonds, 2 hearts and a spade finesse for 10. There may be some interesting endgame positions with the heart blockage as well. If diamonds are 4-1, we are glad we didn't unblock the heart. Clear the diamonds and overtake the ♥K with the ♥A. 5♦+ 2♠+ 2♥ = 9. Everyone got this right at IMPs - good job. At MP's its different. Any thoughts? whereagles
the ♥Q was a red herring

foo
Please read the other thread first. Say you pass the 1♣ opening . It continues, pass on your left and a reopening double by CHP. RHO passes, you (deliciously) pass and LHO pulls to 1♥. Pard tries 2♦ and you close it out with 3N. The opening lead is the ♥T: East,E/W,MP,♠8652♥A42♦AQ9872♣ ♠AQ3♥KQ♦K3♣KJ8753 You win in hand. Plan the play at both pairs and IMPs. At IMPs, you take the safest route to 9 tricks no matter what. At MPs, you are in the normal 3N contract, and worse, you have extra values. With 28 HCPs between the two hands in the normal spot, you =must= take as close to 11 tricks as possible for a decent score. Even if you have to risk going down to do so. You have 1S + 3H's + 3D's= 7 top tricks. On normal breaks you have 1.5S's + 3H's + 6D's= 10.5 tricks.Remember at MPs, you must to do everything you can to take 11 tricks. plan A: D's run and you take a S finesse.(discard 1S + 3C's under last 4 D's) plan B: D's !don't! run. I'll finish this later. The Opening bidder rates to have the SK + the CA.
