1..1..4..?[/hv]

Thanks for any input. It is really not an interesting hand, but for my own peace of mind ...

4. I want 5 to look like a stop, not a slam try.

I would do this at any vulnerability.

I will bid 4 and at matchpoints, have my double card ready if they bid 5, not that I am sure I can beat them. At this vul, partner should have real values for his 1 bid, and I can ruff a . I am hoping the double will talk partner out of leading a . If he leads a , I can get ruff, and if I find partners ACE (either black or in trumps), I can get a second diamond ruff.

I can not imagine passing. I did consider a funky 4NT bid to try to talk them out of hearts, but they have already bid and supported each other. So there is no way a 4NT bid would trick them if 4 was sound raise, and it might make partner do something rash. So there is no point to bidding that this time.

I would dislike 5 Spade, they will simply double you with most bread and better hands.. And if they have slam, 5 Spade X-4 is enough to compnesate for that.

I would like to have a "Lightner" double against 5 Heart, but I don´t have one.

Did you query the opponents regarding what kind of hand 4H can be?

Is it always weak/preemptive with 4-5 trumps? or can it also be an opening hand with 3 card support?
