inquiry
I will bid 4♠ and at matchpoints, have my double card ready if they bid 5♥, not that I am sure I can beat them. At this vul, partner should have real values for his 1♠ bid, and I can ruff a ♦. I am hoping the double will talk partner out of leading a ♠. If he leads a ♦, I can get ruff, and if I find partners ACE (either black or in trumps), I can get a second diamond ruff. I can not imagine passing. I did consider a funky 4NT bid to try to talk them out of hearts, but they have already bid and supported each other. So there is no way a 4NT bid would trick them if 4♥ was sound raise, and it might make partner do something rash. So there is no point to bidding that this time. whereagles
If 4♥ was a strong raise, 6♠ comes to mind. Else 4♠ + 5♠ seems canonical.
han
4S. 5D came to mind. This doesn't seem the right hand though, if I bid 5D then partner will take me seriously and we won't get to defend 6H.
jchiu
4S. 5D came to mind. This doesn't seem the right hand though, if I bid 5D then partner will take me seriously and we won't get to defend 6H. But you may get to defend 6♥ doubled, which may be a crapshoot between +100 and -1210 ;)

cherdano
The tough problem will be whether to make a Lightner double when they bid to 6♥.
Echognome
I kind of like an immediate 5♠. I just hate the colors. Chalk me up for 4.
P_Marlowe
4S, wtp? ok, we are red, but partner is short in hearts, I have 5 spades and a void. With kind regardsMarlowe PS: Miscounted - 6 spades
Codo
I would dislike 5 Spade, they will simply double you with most bread and better hands.. And if they have slam, 5 Spade X-4 is enough to compnesate for that. I would like to have a "Lightner" double against 5 Heart, but I don´t have one. bid_em_up
Thanks for any input. It is really not an interesting hand, but for my own peace of mind ... Did you query the opponents regarding what kind of hand 4H can be? Is it always weak/preemptive with 4-5 trumps? or can it also be an opening hand with 3 card support? Fluffy
I vote for pass, sometimes hiding your support missleads the opponents
