Object strongly to double of 2 spades..see numerous other posts.

Prefer 3d here over 2 spades.

Lol what other posts? There isn't even another conceivable action over 2, for anyone beginner to expert. Larry Cohen (and anyone else) doesn't NEVER double with a void, he just chooses the other action when there is a choice. Here there is no choice.

Agree with the others I bid now because I would have raised last round.

Hi,

6D, I have 9 cards for partner, a spade void

and the AK in clubs, I wont pass.

If partner is not at least 5-5 (and 6-5 is more

likely) he can explain it on the bar, and until

I he convinced me he did the right thing, he has pays,

most likely I am stoned before he has achieved the

convincing.

With kind regards

Marlowe

I want to have a good look at RHO. I can't see how LHO's 3C bid can have improved RHO's hand so much that suddenly a 2S bid on the first round is worth bidding to 5S now in front of partner when I am looking at the AK of clubs.

So if RHO looks as if he was walking the dog, 6D.

If RHO looks clueless, double.

p.s. I can see no possible alternative to double on the first round.

I voted pass but I'm not that happy with a non-forcing pass that I would like to be forcing. I wish I'd bid something last round. Not sure what, though. In retrospect, 5 would have been perfect, but 5 is more realistic. Oh wait, I want a club lead of course.......

I made an timid little OBAR double and partner has barrelled to 5 bidding hearts along the way all by himself. And I have absolute control in clubs and spades, and great diamonds?

I don't know what is making, but I can not sit here with all this stuff and pass now. I will bid 6-- maybe it makes, maybe not. I suspect if partner leads a club, we get two clubs and a club ruff against 5, but he might not lead that.

We might make, they might take a 6 save, they might make 5. But it is imps, we ae not vul, and 6 will not be hurt too much (other than going minus at both tables if 5 is not making).

Couldn't you bid 6, then, just in case they bid 6? 6 must be lead-directing, based on a diamonds fit, especially since you didn't bid clubs before partner bid diamonds.

Or would it be better to bid 6 and then double 6 for a lead in the unbid suit? Would partner take it that way?

I slept on this hand and came to the conclusion that 6D is the right bid. And now it turns out that pass is the winning call, sjees! Could you post the full hand?

Hardly a surprise. We really showed our hand with the first double. True, we happen to have a void in spades, but partner had a right to expect no more than one spade and about the high-card strength that we have now. And of course, we can pass now and partner will still be there. If he is ready to chop this off (and apparently he was), why not let him.

It's not just the void, though you seem to be speaking as though that isn't a big deal when I find it to be huge. We have secondary honors in both partner's suits and top tricks in the last suit, every high card in our hand looks gigantic for offense. Also we have 9 cards in his suits when we could have had 8 or 7. We have a whole lot more offense than he has a right to expect.
