Mr. Dodgy
I'm usually pretty good with numbers but this has me stumped...anyone care to try help me out? I'm using (slightly modified) Victory Points tables to award 'DodgyPoints' to players in certain of the tourneys I run on BBO. The table for a 24-board tourney is: IMPs VPs0-3 15-154-9 16-1410-14 17-1315-19 18-1220-24 19-1125-29 20-1030-34 21-935-39 22-840-45 23-746-51 24-652-57 25-558-64 26-465-71 27-372-79 28-280-87 29-188+ 30-0 and the results from one tourney were: Player IMPA 68B 62C 20D 2E -32F -34G -36H -50TOTAL 0 Which gives these awards: Player VPA 27B 26C 19D 15E 9F 9G 8H 6TOTAL 119 It's that last line that I can't understand - it should be 120...shouldn't it? jtfanclub
No. Think of a round robin. Team 1 beats team 2 by 3Team 1 beats team 3 by 3Teams 2 and 3 tie. Team 1 is +6=16 pointsTeam 2 is -3= 15 pointsTeam 3 is -3= 15 points Total is 46, not 45. If it had been 4, it would be 16, 14, and 14.
