goobers
If you're playing RONF, what do you rebid when partner bids a new suit, you don't have support, but you have a max? This seems rather important to know, and I'm surprised I've waited this long before asking.
jillybean
A new suit, 3nt?
goobers
Also, I imagine it's a bit different between 2♥ - 2♠ and 2♥ - 3♦ Can someone give a good summary, or link me to a good resource?
jillybean
After you have opened 2♥ or is there more to the auction?
jdonn
A new suit, 3nt? This is quite correct. Or you can jump to 4 of your major if it will always be a playable suit and 3NT doesn't look like a good idea, like 2♥ p 3♦ p and you hold x KQJTxx Kx xxxx. goobers
Would a new suit be a feature? 2♥ - 2♠3♣
jillybean
I hate this answer but here goes :) it depends on your agreement.
goobers
I hate this answer but here goes :) it depends on your agreement. I think it's a fine answer :) What are some common agreements? I honestly can't think of any others aside from "I have some values here pard."
jdonn
Would a new suit be a feature? 2♥ - 2♠3♣ Yes, it shows strength in the form of an honor but not necessarily length.
goobers
Okay cool, that was simple enough, thanks :)
kenrexford
My preference, learned years ago, as to 2-level RONF new suit next actions: 2NT = minimum, fit ("fit" being Qx/xxx+)\Raise = max, fit (can also splinter, unless major was possibly artificial)Rebid own = no fit, minimumNew = no fit, "feature" (intentionally fuzzy)3NT = solid suit (like 3NT after feature or OGUST) BTW, the RONF new suit can be either a suit or an artificial stopper ask. Thus, after say 2♥ opening, Responder's 2♠ either shows spades OR an interest in raising to 2NT/3NT if Opener has a card in spades.

helene_t
You could bid a side suit with values. Doesn't matter if it's only a 3-card (it will usually be if your preempts are somewhat diciplined), even Hx will do. Not sure what to do with AKQxxx and out. After 2NT you bid 3NT but after a new suit you'll like to let partner declare in 3NT. What about this:2♥-2♠? 2N= spades raise, at least Qx or xxx.3♠=AKQxxx, no spades support That rightsides the final contract and is also adheres to the useful space principle.
