Fluffy
2♣ is the only option now, with the ♥J or even the Queen I would bid it also. opening 1NT was another option.

pclayton
Switch my hearts and clubs and I'd have opened 1N. For now, its a slightly heavy 2♣.
jdonn
2♣ is the only possible bid at this point. If partner bids 2♦ or 2♠ next it's a pretty close decision as to whether or not to take another call, and either way seems ok to me.
gwnn
2♣? Because that's what the system tells me to do? 11-16 hcp, 54+?
skjaeran
Easy 2♣ rebid for me. Not remotely close to any other bid. I would not open this 1NT. I'd normally take another call (2NT over 2♦, 3♠ over 2♠), but that's close.
inquiry
Playing normal 2/1 GF, I rebid 2♣, this isn't even a problem. However, this is a systemic fix for me when playing my full Inquiry2over1 stuff...This is because for some odd reason, I play the normal rebid of 2♣ has a non-standard meaning. It could be balanced 17+, or a strong diamond one suiter (one most jump rebid 3♦ with), or a true minor two suiter, strong. A jump to 3♣ shows a weak minor two suiter. For this reason (and in anticipation of this problem), I would have opened 1NT. But here, I would be forced to rebid 2♣, but it is not all bad. 2♣ is 99.9% forcing (it denies four card spade support and a hand strong enough to open 2♣, etc, so I have seen a hand with lots of clubs and little value that responder choose to pass. Over 2♣, partner can bid 2♦, which can be a pretty serious false preference, or 2♠ which shows long suit wanting to play 2♠ opposite a 17-19 balanced hand, 2NT which is a transfer to 3♣ (with a diamond one suiter, opener bids 3♦ over 2NT), 3♣ which is a transfer to 3♦, and a few higher bids, but the most forward going bid is 2♥. Here 2♥ seeks more infomation, and promises more values than a 2♦ rebid. Over 2♥ I would rebid 2NT. A slight overbid, admittedly, but the fifth diamond and the good shape may make up for the fact that I am 1 hcp short for this bid. So if partner held long spades and weak hand, like everyone else after 2♣ I get to 2♠. If partner held some weak ahnds, even with 4♣ and 2♦, I would get to 2♦ (he will be 5224 because with 6♠ he would have bid 2♠ when weak). If he has five clubs and a weak hand, he would bid 2NT over 2♣ planning on passing the 3♣ rebid.
Halo
I bid 2♣. Completely happy with the 1♦ opening. Starting a good hand with the bid of a good suit seems OK.

ArcLight
Why open 1NT instead of 1♦ since you don't have a rebid problem.You can rebid 2♣ I don't see why you would open 1NT since you don't need to Compare the hand above to this one: Spades: K Hearts: A x x Diamonds: A K x x x x Clubs: Q T x Richard Pavlicek suggested opening this 1NT ------------------------------------------------ These also are problematic (from Richard Willeys post on RGB) S K H KJT4 D AQ84 C KT73 S K H KJT3 D AQ873 C KT4 Neither of these hands has a reasonable rebid after 1D - (p) - 1S
Echognome
2♣ and to be honest, I can't understand why this is in Advanced and Expert class bridge (at least to this point in the problem). I think if you've opened 1♦, then you've prepared a 2♣ rebid. If you want to debate the merits of opening 1♦ vs opening 1NT, that is a different question (and one you've posted elsewhere). If the question is what to bid after 1♦ - 1♠ - 2♣ - 2♦/2♠/2NT, etc, then that is a different question as well. But for this problem, I would suspect that the expert community would be unanimous. (I write this knowing that one person chose 2♦, but that could have been a misclick or a monkey. Who knows?)
