Update:

We're going for the whole week so a mixed pair as teammates would be ideal so that we can also play the mixed teams together.

Clarification: the open pairs counts as two sessions (total 30 Euro per player), not as 6 sessions as one might fear!

Apartments are available for as little as 15 Euro per person per night if you can stuff 3 or more people into an apartment.

The official part of the thing will end tomorrow. So far the pluses and the minuses are:

Pluses:

- Generally well organized with good cadies, good IT and good TDs.

- Friendly staff

- Reasonably strong field (i.e. we get completely squatted and cannot blame all of it on sickness, teammates and bad luck), probably attracted by the prices. Since the price pool is about 1/3 of the fees, it would be cheaper but not that much cheaper for those of us who have no chance of ending in the money, if the fees were lower. Besides, there is a little to win in the lower flights as well, and Swiss movements assures opponents at adequate level for everyone most of the time.

- Good weather

- Good and affordable food and accommodation

Minuses:

- No social program

- No online pre-event partnership/teammate desk, i.e. teams have to be formed on site

- The Swiss teams movements require a lot of time (appr 20 minutes per 8 boards) for re-aligning. In combination with the delayed starts (usually 22h opposed to the scheduled 21h), it means that we end the evenings past 1 am or more than one hour later than scheduled.

I've played the Swiss teams in Pula, finished 10th, being in the ending. My general impressions were:

- The accommodation was good and very affordable;

- The food wasn't so great, definitely our croatians guests should work on that;

- The sea and weather were great;

- The field was pretty strong;

- The prizes were small compared with the fees;

- The open pairs tournament, were i kibbitzed, was badly organised, the tables were too close, there were too many empty seats, the movement was permanently delayed;

- The was a general impression of crowdedness
