pclayton
Whats your best % game in a single session pair event? Harv and I played yesterday in the STAC at Dana Point and racked up a 72.3%, which is my best. http://www.thewesternconference.com/stac/S...g07/THUEaft.htm The STAC takes place across the western US. A score in the low 70's is usually enough to win. This time it was 4th! 4 scores in the 72's; naturally 5th place was 66% LOL. We really didn't do anything brilliant; nailed our opponents a few times and accepted their gifts graciously. We were fixed once on Board 19 when our opponents bid a thin 4♠: http://www.thewesternconference.com/stac/S...nds/thuaftm.pdf that the field stayed out of. Finch
The number of boards is relevant, of course, but over 24 or more my best score is 81% I once got the best British score in the worldwide simultaneous with about 73%, but if you want to get a huge score in that sort of event you have to find the right club to play in
jdonn
I had 85% once in a very terrible club game with 2.5 tables, so you play 20 of the 25 boards. Since each board is just played twice, it pretty much means a 20 board bam against awful players in which I won 17 of the boards. I'm pretty sure I won 14 and tied 6. However my clear best achievement in a session of pairs was at the Reno regional once, after having not slept for over 50 hours due to plane difficulties having a 71% pair session with Kevin Bathurst. After the session I went, slept the entire break, and came back for a 52% second session. I was in college at the time, so seems about right! mikeh
I had an 81% game when I had been playing for about 18 months.. it was in a game at the faculty club at university..... about a dozen tables if memory serves, but not a good player in the room... mostly faculty with a smattering of grad students and one table of undergrads (me included). I did, more recently, win one of these wide-spread at-the-club games with a 75.5% game... it paid some ungodly number of masterpoints for playing in what was (at our club) an 8 table game. And I had a 78% game in the first session I ever played at a Regional: it was the 49'er pairs back in 1973... so I can claim to have won the first Regional event I ever played in... so long as nobody asks for details ;) Good friends of mine had a 256 out of 312 in a single session Sectional Pairs event: 82.05%... that's the highest I have ever seen. Two other friends of mine won a big Regional Stratified pairs with, on a 325 top, scores of 237 and 237.5: a 73% average over two sessions.. I haven't seen a higher combined score over a 25 top event: the higher the average, the closer to average the scores cluster, in my experience. jtfanclub
When I was 12, and had just learned bridge, I was playing at the local Senior Citizens center and they had an odd number of people. So they called around, and got a local 'expert' who normally didn't play in these games, to partner with me. Well, pretty quickly, I discovered that she was a whole lot better than I was. And as soon as I did, I came upon a plan. By the end of the night, it was obvious what the plan was- I'd bid new suit forcing until P bid no-trump, then raise to 3 as often as possible. My partner said nothing to me, but as we were tallying up the last board, she shouted, "Three No Trump! Three No Trump! All you ever say is Three No Trump!" And stormed out of the building. When the totals were taken, it turned out we'd had a 73% game. Since then, I've had higher scores, but was my first 'high' score.
Fluffy
my highest is still 79%, it was not on a local, but the second session of a big tourney in madrid, there were several world masters (one of them was my partner), but most played with sponsor or mid-level friend. We were already going first after first session with 68%, the third session I didn't even play because I had to go skiing with my brother :). SoTired
A local expert claimed he once had a 4% game. But you have to do it without bidding wildly or noticably. (It is highly illegal). Noone can realize that you have done poorly until they add up the scores at the end. The other expert pair that he was wagering against did not come close. Their game was in the teens, I believe. kenrexford
As a member of "The Field," I once had an 87.5% game, sort of. One pair in a game in which I played had a 12.5% game, the lowest I've ever seen. Thus, "The Field" had an 87.5% game against that pair. han
12.5%, that's quite a number.

awm
Elianna and I once had a 96% in a three-table club game at UCLA. But that was only 6 boards and so shouldn't count for anything (11- out of 12 MPs). We also had an 82% in a BBO ACBL game, but that's only 12 boards. For a full session my best was 75% at a club in Maryland with a pickup partner. I've been in the low 70s a number of times in various clubs with various partners (including a STAC once). Sam and I recently had a 72% in a regional open pairs, which is my best result in a "real" tournament.
Free
74.40 on 28 boards is my personal best. I've probably played online tourneys with a higher percentage but these are only 8 or 12 boards which doesn't really count imo.
Fluffy
I've seen Buratti-Lanzarotti scoring 3 sesions above 71% (all the 3 of them) 3 times. (Stealing our prices could be better said). Also log ago on a Simultaneous, a guy who would be rated as intermediate won the worldwide simultaneous with something close to 90%. I guess the organizators didn't know he was the guy to record all the scores and send them :)
han
I had an 86% in a 5-board individual on BBO. :)

We were dealt 78%, but decided to graciously give back 6% of the matchpoints to "the field". Besides this, my best in a regional flight A separate came this year in Cromwell, where Joseph Byrnes and I racked up a 450.26 on a 650 top (69.81%). This was our second session together. skjaeran
I once scored something like 72.5% over three nights in a student's bridge club with a terrible partner. The rest of the field was almost rank beginners, so it was pretty much like stealing candies from children. In a 5 table Mitchell I once scored 74%. The runners up in our direction scored 69%, leaving an average 35.67% for the remaining three pairs.
Gerben42
On a 26-board session my best is 76.7% and we started with a zero. As you might imagine, things improved after that. On a positive side, I've never had a session under 32%.
Mr. Dodgy
Early days yet for me, I hope - I've only started playing regularly in F2F competitions for about 5 months. 58.41%/54boards this past Sunday...my first congress win :) 62%/27boards at the club a few weeks ago. helene_t
Wow, I'm not sure if I've ever scored above 60% in real life. I once got 83% in a BBO indy (12 boards). Although my average for BBO indys is probably around 50%, maybe lower if I adjust for my selective memory.
Mr. Dodgy
won at the club this monday (my only regular play) 65.18% over 27/30 boards. and a ~60% congress (54 boards?) a few weeks ago. I'm also now a State Champion: http://www.qldbridge.com/titles/display.php?code=grprsd D-Grade :D

mycroft
71 and change playing EHAA at a sectional.28 and change when both of the pair were up all night (me with an assignment, her with a sick grandchild) and both of us would have cancelled if we could have reached the other. It actually was kind of fun, once we realized we weren't going to be coherent. I had a 7-table team game at my club, 6x5 board matches. Not only did the team that won win every match, they went 132-2. The two IMPS they gave up were two overtricks in one match - so they blanked the other 5 teams. And they weren't clearly the best team in the field. Michael.
Impact
I was reminded of this 2 weeks ago when I saw my then "pick-up partner" for about the first time in 20 years. At the Sydney University Bridge Club in my/our first month at university: yes we had a top - not merely a shared top- on EVERY board in (I was informed) a 24 board game to record 100%!! My partner was Barbara Gill (now Travis) and a very frequent Australian Women's representative. Apparently (according to Barbara who supplied the information) it has been recorded/commemorated as some kind of record and features in a book of Zia's!! Not really so much credit is applicable because although there were some very good players who were members of the club-but they were not playing that day. I know I will never have another set close to that score!! Should have given up bridge there and then, thereby saving everyone concerned considerable anguish... Closest I have come to playing standard in three decades..... regards
Hanoi5
but if you want to get a huge score in that sort of event you have to find the right club to play in How easy! In my country there is only one game of those. Bummer.
