Apollo81
Curious what this "field" would do on these cards in various auctions: x K AQxxx Kxxxxx all red MPs, RHO deals 1. (2♠)-?2. (2♠)-3m-(3♠)-p-(p)-?3. (2♠)-3m-(4♠)-p-(p)-?4. (2♠)-3m-(3♠)-p-(4♠)-?
pbleighton
I'd bid 3C, and pass after that. Peter
Fluffy
I guess you don't wanna know but I would bid 3♠ showing both minors. Without the convention it is close betwenn pass and 3♦, I would go for pass. If I have to reopen 3♠ I would do it with 4♣

ewj
I'd overcall 3♣, and compete with 3NT for the minors over 3♠.If 4♠ comes back to me, I'll pass,

Amazing uh? it is more like I don't have a good suit to bid at the 3 level.

Fluffy
does the freak 4♠ bid by opener gonna happen?, that would puzzle me an would not know what to do. On the 2♠-4♠ I would reopen 4NT wich seems clear.

whereagles
I would bid 3♦ on all cases, followed by 4/5♣.
ArtK78
I would overcall 3C and then, if given the opportunity, bid notrump for the minors. Most partnerships that I know use 3S over 2S to ask partner to bid 3NT with a spade stop. 4S over 2S would show the minors, but I am not willing to unilaterally commit this hand to the 5 level unless I am forced to do so. (2♠)-3m-(3♠)-p-(p)-?3. (2♠)-3m-(4♠)-p-(p)-?4. (2♠)-3m-(3♠)-p-(4♠)-? Assuming that my partner had a responsive x available in all these 2S-bid-xS-? auctions, I would bid 3C and then pass throughout if partner is silent. I think its clear to pass over the 3S bid. Partner, who is marked with some values, almost certainly has a wasted card in spades, except for the case where opener has 10 and advancer has 14 and they just missed game. In the 2S-bid-4S auction, you are not making 5m, but there is some chance it would be a good save. Maybe partner has something like xx xxxx Kxxx Qx. But this hand might be a phantom (your stiff K might score on defense), and there are many hands which go for a likely -800 against the game such as xx Qxxx xxxx Qx. (This hand might even beat 4S but go for 800 if you can't get to dummy to take the winning diamond hook) What is the moral: While the extra shape is good for offense, the bad interiors of your suits and the stiff K are all very defensive.... Guest Jlall
3C then I'm done. If you overcall and bid again, I think you're nuts. Partner doesnt need much to make a card showing X of 3 or 4 spades when you've overcalled at the 3 level. You are outgunned and have a lot of defense and could easily go for 1100 (over 4S) or a number after 3S. Over 3S even if that number is 200 you have done poorly. edit: lol, just saw joshs's post, great minds...
whereagles
u afraid of going for a number with a 6-5 and opps having a fit?? what's the matter with you, justin? getting old?? :)
han
If I knew that the opponents were going to bid 3S then I'd pass and bid 3NT next. However, I don't, so I'll just bid 3C (did someone seriously consider 3D?) and pass next. Good problem.
dake50
4NT immediately over 2S: 1) our hand, partner is in catbird seat for 6m/P; 2) their S-fit hand, let them guess 5S/X; 3) unknown, let everyone guess.Show stuff, let auction develop. Fluffy
did someone seriously consider 3D? I am not sure, Phil thinks I am not a part of everyone, so maybe I am not someone either :)
