pbleighton
1S seems clear, I wonder what I'm missing. If pd rebids 1NT I bid 3C. Peter
MickyB
I'm quite liking 2♣. A 4-4 spade fit is unlikely to be our best spot with a side 7 card suit, and if pard passes I can't see 3N making as we need him to have the ace to make our clubs run. inquiry
I will rebid 2♣. The reason is three-fold. 1- Where are the diamonds. Partner will have a fair number it looks like. If he is not strong enough to bid again, 2C or 2S should both be fine. 2- If there is slam in hand, it may very well be in clubs even if we have a 4-4 spades fit. We could easly have a spade loser in spades but not in clubs. 3- Surely with this distribution, 2C will not end the auction and spades, being the master suit can be bid the next round. jdonn
3- Surely with this distribution, 2C will not end the auction and spades, being the master suit can be bid the next round. But it won't show 4, 2♣ denies four spades. If that's what you want to do on this hand then ok, but don't think you can all of a sudden show them later. Your spade bids will be descriptive, showing a hand a lot like this one but with 1 spade less.
pclayton
1♠. Please don't restart the "I play 1♠ as forcing" rants.
Guest Jlall
1S. I don't see why spades can't be our spot, and even if it's not when we bid clubs to the moon next partner will have a good idea what we have. 2C and then later bidding spades does NOT show this. mikeh
I really don't see any other call... if my partner bid 2♣ and I was looking at KJxx xxxx xxx Ax... do I have any choice other than pass? So the downside of 2♣ is obvious. What is the downside of 1♠? If partner passes, we are probably in the wrong spot but, equally probably, we are not in a terrible spot (and he may have Jxxx Qxxxx Jxxx void ...at least, I might hold that.. I wouldn't dream of passing 1♣ with that hand). If partner bids again, we can, if it seems appropriate, start rebidding ♣s... as many times as we need to. Partners tend to like us describing our hands.... accurately

Edmunte1
1♠, wating for the news.We have enough time to rebid clubs afterwards. If we're going to make a big number of tricks partenr should appreciate at their right value the hcp in spades.
