EricK
There might be something wrong with my browser (Firebird 0.7), but the bidding sequence you have posted doesn't show any suits. Eric
Free
VULNERABILITY!!! When not told it is always equal. Mike ;) "Equal" doesn't say enough, there's a difference between V-V and NV-NV

Eric I am not familar with the firebird browser, so I will give the auction like this. 1 H - 1 SP - p - p - X - p - r bid Mike ;)
Free
Anyway, if you don't bid 2S with that hand, you get such problems which aren't real problems. Pass. If partner is short in S, he'll RDbl when V, and pass when NV...
paulg
As well as showing the vulnerability, the scoring is just as important (MPs or IMPs). Better formatting on the auction may have prevented Free's apparent misreading of the problem :-) However I don't think I'm really strong enough to pass, and don't expect to get rich as they probably have a 7-card fit. So 2C is sufficient for me.
inquiry
1st,,, I assume imps, 2nd, not sure if I followed the bidding, so I am entering what I think the bidding is.... Pard...RHO...ME.... LHO1H.....1S......Pass....PassDBL...Pass....? I am not going to pass. My spades are not good enough. I am not going to to bid 2H despite my stiff diamond and two card heart support (partner will know I don't have 3 because I generally raise with 3 over the dbl). So I am going to bid my club suit. If we can make 5clubs, partner will bid again over 2C. If partner pulls 2C to 2D, I will bid 2H. If partner shows club support and values over 2C, I will make a game try. Free
This is the exact reason why we play 1X - (intervention) - 2Y (Y lower than X) as Non Forcing. If you pass in first instance, pass again. Otherwise you show stronger hand which hasn't got a Dbl... So still Pass ;) And yes, because of the bad format I aparently misread the auction... Ben i agree with ben, except if partner bids 3c over my 2c i think i pass.. i know that might be losing action, we might have a club game, but it seems right to me.. if he bids 2s, of course, i bid 4c
the hog
2C. Whats the problem. Surely you don't expect me to pass?
Trpltrbl
2C. Whats the problem. Surely you don't expect me to pass? You can do anything you want :P but on this hand passing, if you can defend correctly which I think you can, works out very good. Bidding 2http://mnet.bg/~mfn/c.gif which I disagree with, will not. If you bid 3http://mnet.bg/~mfn/c.gif you will get to game, but that hasn't made yet either. Mike :D
Trpltrbl
Pd's handhttp://mnet.bg/~mfn/s.gif Qhttp://mnet.bg/~mfn/h.gif AKQ10xhttp://mnet.bg/~mfn/d.gif AKxxhttp://mnet.bg/~mfn/c.gif 109x As you can see 1http://mnet.bg/~mfn/s.gif X-ed will not get many tricks. Declarer had 5-3-2-3 hand, and we got it down 3 for 800, looks like 1100 is even possible, even though I don't spend much time on hands like this. 5 http://mnet.bg/~mfn/c.gif makes if you guess some stuff right. Mike :P P.S. if somebody finds a way to get it 1100 let me know
