Guest Jlall
Diamond, a spade is possible but partner might have Xed if that were the winning lead.
mikeh
♦. We can assume that partner has at least one winner... if he holds none, not only can't we beat this, but the opps have underbid. If he has two winners, on any lead, then our lead is irrelevant. If he has a red Ace and the ♠K, he'd double... sure, the ♠ might be behind him, but he has to double. So we have to choose a red suit lead. We need more from him in ♥s for that to be right than we need in ♦s, because we are contributing the Q in that suit. If he has the ♠A (as an example) and the ♥K alone, then a ♥ will probably not do the trick... but if he has the ♦ K alone, the ♦ lead establishes our Q. Against a grand, I'd lead a black suit, as the most neutral. Against a small, I lead aggressively unless the auction tells me otherwise, and this one doesn't. mike777
D ATTACK!1) Against 6nt I almost always lead passive.2) This hand is an exception with those solid clubs.3) Once I decide to attack, D seems our best hope.
Apollo81
Diamond. This auction calls for an aggressive lead, and this is the only one available.
Finch
We aren't told the form of scoring. I am less convinced of the merits of an attacking diamond lead were the scoring matchpoints.
whereagles
obvious diamond lead, as far as I'm concerned
Halo
I was the one vote for a spade. Feels OK to me because I think it is an aggressive lead.
