MickyB
[hv=d=w&v=n&s=st9xxhxxxxdat9xcx]133|100|Scoring: IMPOpposition bid -2♦:2♥3♣:3♦3NT:6NT 2♦ was a multi, 3♣ showed a "good" strong two in ♣. Are you making a Lightener double? If it affects your decision, this is the penultimate board of the match and you estimate to be leading by about 20 IMPs against a weaker team.[/hv]
Gerben42
Lightner for what? For your Ace? Huh?
P_Marlowe
Hi, Iif my estimation is correct, the answeris No, why should I? Unless I make something stupid on theboard, can they win 20IMP? No. Assuming our side will reach 6NT, do youbelieve that they will make a lightner? Maybe, most likely not. With kind regardsMarlowe
marcD
Do I zbsolutely want a spade lead ? i guess not, so pass is easy. Guess depends on your agreements but dbl for me ask to lead dummy's suit or if none bid then spades. Here you could possibly argue that dummy has shown spades but I think it's better to treat 2H as a plain relay.

drinbrasil
cant understand the problem...really...looks the problem is how you can loss 20imps here? only way seems doubling and receiveing redouble and they making and your partners going down in 7NT in other room. :( serious talking, the Lightener double you intend is with wich significate? you have one trick, if this means partner to lead diamonds you make one trick and not clear if its good (imagine partner have KQ♥ and lead diamonds....the only way for 6NT if dummy have KQJxx o diamonds...) Guest Jlall
They're probably going down but I don't need to double given your conditions and they could easily be making.

Sorry missed that since most players bid 3D to find 44 major fit and/or avoid playing 3NT from the weak hand. Pass anyway
asc
You could double 3♦ , BUT 6NT because You partner maybe is with K (or QJ ) in ♦. :D :D :D

Apollo81
I need to lose 20 IMPs on this board to lose the match? A redoubled making slam seems like just what the doctor ordered.
MickyB
I was kibitzing an England international on this board. He passed, which (as you may have guessed) wasn't the winning action - partner has QJxx (!) in diamonds and there are 12 top tricks in NT. Teammates were in 4NT. An unfortunate game-swing out on the final board led to a 2 IMP loss, the player in question was blaming himself for not doubling but I felt that was resulting.
