I play double here as 2nd negative. With this hand I'd have a problem. I'd have to decide between pass and 4♣. 4♣ is ok as a descriptive bid, but might preempt partner. I think I'd pass, to let partner make a bid at the 3-level.

4C looks ok to me, I do have 7 of them and a good hand. If you pass good luck ever showing this hand type when LHO bids something.

I also like 4♣, largely because I have a stiff diamond. IMO, a bypass of 3NT to bid clubs of all things seems to scream shortness in diamonds.

Pass would show game-forcing values. Double shows less than game-forcing values. Bids are natural and show game-forcing positive values. I think with this hand I may need to bid 4C now before the diamonds are hijacked to the 5-level.

- most likly I pass, but 4C is certainly better

- double is negative

- pass is forcing

PS: I am used to a styl, when 2C is one trick

In my style I don't open 2♣ :(

 

But, since I happen to be playing this hand in a different style, I'd go with 4♣. There's something to be said for passing, though.
