3C 3S 5C ?

What do you try? You have the options of double, 5S, 6S, or other.

I will vote for 5. I would not be the slightest bid surprised to see 6 make, but I will stay fixed. I always (try to) lean toward not hanging partner for taking a chance if it's close. And even if partner doesn't have two clubs (he could, by the way. the opponents don't always bid the way you or I might think they should) we aren't out of the woods.

AKxxxx Jxx QJx x

AKxxxxx Kxx xx x

AKxxxx Qxx Jxxx -

AT9xxx KQJ QJx x

and so on.

It would help to know of partner's overcalling style. He might well have streched to come in with his stiff club.

Still I wouldn't be very glad to see he came in with

KT9xxx KQx QJx K

6 should be a long-time winner.

This should be a +11/-11 IMP loss, and i think, 6 will be make more than in 50% percent of cases. I don't see any mechanism to control that (5 will just show hearts, and pass is non-forcing). So i'll take my above average chance and shoot 6

6. Its a 30 point deck, so we have 0-4 points missing. Slam may be unplayable, or it may be cold, but it probably requires a little work; like a red suit squeeze against RHO; or pard working out to finesse my red 10.

If pass was forcing (I believe the current rules are that a non-passed hand raise of a preempt doesn't create a force), then I'd make it and pull to 5 which should be very invitational.

Well, LHO had AKxxxx and RHO had xxx. Partner's Q of clubs false card at trick 1 unfortunately didn't pay off.

Partner held:

AKxxxx

Qxx

Qx

Qx

I think the problem is the 3 bid.

On one hand you have a real nice suit and 13 HCPs.

On the other hand, your side suits queens do not look too good,

and Akxxxx, Qxx,xx,xx is not that much of an overcall.

I had overcalled with this hand each sunday but pass it saturday, so for me this is far from 200 % correct.

I would still defeat my 6 Spade bid. I had no way to invite pd and I still believe that this is the percentage action.
