bid_em_up
I thought it might be interesting to find out certain things about the forum posters, so I will post 3-4 polls regarding this info. I would have preferred to have all the polls in one thread, but I guess that belongs in "Suggestions for the Forum" ;) So, can you tell I am bored @ work? Guest Jlall
10 years. Years don't matter as much as hands played though (I would say I've played more bridge than most people who have played 30 years).
jdonn
Yeah I second that. I seriously believe I may be in the top 1000 people on the planet in terms of amount of bridge hands played, even though there must literally be a million people who have been playing for longer. pclayton
27 years. Imagine how many posts I'd have if BBF would have been around when I started ;)
Apollo81
8 years. I played a ton of hands between 2002-2004; I play less than a ton now since I'm out of college and working.
Badmonster
I think about three. Maybe it's four. I lose track.
whereagles
Something like 13 or 14 years. But haven't been playing much lately.. too busy
BillHiggin
I claimed 20-30.I started nearly 45 years ago.By the time I met the lady I was to wed, I had come to the conclusion that the person opposite me at the bridge table should not be the same as the person next to me at night (your mileage may vary). So I stopped playing for about 18 years. Now, I play some on-line but not at all face to face.
skjaeran
I've played for 33-34 years. I played a lot during college and university studies. After starting working, getting married and having children, I've had a period where I played far less - not playing regularly in a club, but playing in the district teams championship every other weak in the autumn seasons, the national league (two weekends pr year) and some high level tournaments. The last 3-4 years I've been playing more regularly. Mostly IMP games in Oslo (where I live) and high level tournaments (mostly MP, but some teams tournaments). I play some online and comment on a non-regular basis on BBO vugraph broadcasts.
Free
12 years, but the first 3 don't really count since it was "bridge at home".
bid_em_up
27 years. bridgeboy
I've played for 7 years, competitively for about 5 years.. But I reckon I've played more hands than most from my country
helene_t
32 (started when I was 8), but until 7 years ago it was basically substituting at the anual family reunion when the aunts and uncles needed a fourth player. I play about 30 boards a weak in real life, a little more that that on BBO.
Mr. Dodgy
As mentioned in the "introductions" thread, I was introduced to bridge about 25 years ago, but didn't catch the bug. About 20 years ago I did enjoy playing Five Hundred with friends, and reading bridge books. I did play for a while in a club about 15 years ago, but only about once a week, and only for about a year. And about 5 years ago I discovered online bridge. I was instantly hooked. Two years ago I was playing very occasionally at the local club, and almost every day on BBO. This year I have started playing more face-to-face. I attended my first big congress 3 months ago at Queensland's Gold Coast. Quite an experience :D . I suppose I have about 5 good years experience, mostly online, voted 3-5. I am enjoying decent face-to-face competition now very much - and doing reasonably well at it :) I'll take this opportunity to again thank BBO, BBF, and those associated with them for their part in helping me explore this great game. Regards, Justin
