Apollo81
7654KJJT854A4 unfavorable, MPs (2♥)-Dbl-(4♥)-??? Double would (obviously) be responsive.
gingolia
I would tend to double ... I have some defense against 4♥ and if partner chooses to pull the responsive double, I have reasonable support for 4♠ (if partner bids 5♣, I guess I will bid 5♦)
Robert
Hi everyone Double is not responsive. Double shows values. This hand passes in tempo. If your partner has extra values, he is free to express them by making a second double. Regards, Robert
SoTired
4SI play the responsive dbl of a major after partner has made a takeout dbl, tends to show both minors. This is especially true if the major is hearts.I think advancer is too good to pass.
mr1303
Pass. Put my KJ of hearts somewhere else, and I'd do something. This hand I have a working 5 count
pbleighton
I play responsive doubles through 3S, This double would be card showing, penalty oriented in my methods. Thus, I agree with Robert. Were I playing that the double was responsive, I would pass as well. 4S is a decent call as well, it just smells like no one can make 4. whereagles
4♠. One of my most revolting bids ever.
Fluffy
Seems the perfect hand for a double.
pclayton
Robert: I think the terms 'responsive' and 'card showing' in this context are synonymous. I play responsive doubles through the 7 level. I'm not doubling with this rag, nor am I bidding 4♠. Half of my hand is in the near worthless KJ. If pard has a moose, I'll hear about it. jdonn
I'm doubling, my experience is that at this vul the opponents simply won't have their bids. If partner has a very offensive hand he can pull and I will either pass his 4♠ bid or pull whatever else to 5♦. I would bid 4♠ if I thought it was likely to push the opponents up, but that doesn't seem likely to me since my spades are so bad.
helene_t
Difficult. I think I'll double (and pull 5♣ to 5♦) but it's quite possible that pass is the best call.
the hog
Pass. I have a sterile distribution and cards in Hearts, which is precisely where I don't want them.
skjaeran
Pass. This is a no-brainer IMO.It's more interesting if partner balances - I doubt he will.
