Pass. By far not good enough to bid 2S - see another analogous post. If you X and partner bids 2H what are you goung to do? Now 2S overstates the strength of the hand and if pd gives preference to 3D you are in deep poo.

Pass, wtp.

If partner's got a penalty pass (unlikely), we won't be defending 2 anyway - RHO will remove to 2. If partner has a penalty double and opening strenght, he'll not gamble on me being able to reopen.

what has gambling to do with it?

If your partner expects you to reopen

in case you are short, and you dont do

it, you are gambling not partner.

Can 2 be wrong?

not always, but 2D has only one way to

win, i.e. diamonds is best for your side,

but you may have a penalty for your side,

a 5-2 fit in hearts and a 4-4 fit in spades,

... and partner can still bid 2D in case he

holds 3 cards.

by agreement, I have to reopen,

which means pass is no option.

I will pass partners answer.

Same here.

ditto.

Ready to play in the 4-2 heart fit if no double by opp.

Roflmao

Do you pre alert this? I hope you do. You realise that you can go for a huge number here against opponents who want to trap.

hum... dbl and convert 2 to 2.

Shouldn't this show more like 16+ ?

By the book, maybe yes. In practice I find that too unflexible. Dbl + 2 should show just about this hand, while a direct 2 would be more like those 16+.

If you can't live with dbl + 2 I suppose you have to pass or bid 2
