Speed Bridge

I've just completed a speed bridge tournament, when I limited to 16 pairs, at 4 mins a board.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get the boards done in time, and most were given averages. What would be a better time? I still want the pressure of being against the clock.

This has been the topic of several post in the past in this forum. For instance, http://forums.bridgebase.com/in...ay;threadid=469

Your attempt at 4 minutes per board is the shortest I have heard of. Most agree that even 5 minutes a board is a little short. However, of course, the more boards played per round, the less minutes per board you need. For instance, 3 boards per round, 5 minutes per board should work for a speedball. Maybe 5.5 mintues for 2 boards per round.

I always check the timing per board, and since the first speedball event sponsored and directed by our good friend and BBO yellow RAIN, I have avoided them like the plague. I like 7 to 7.5 minutes per board.

Tee hee... yes and I do warn you 4 min is maybe big problem. We do 5 min per board for speedballs in total points and this is not much problem but when i try this is bbo side tournaments it is total disaster.

Why?

For players is LAZY and do NOT READ tournament description. Why person with bad conneciton and no intention of playing promptly enter events like this i no idea but it is little bit frustrating.

in junior camp we played 3 boards in 10 minutes, and no one had a time trouble. in fact after 5 minutes people usually yelled "speedball" indicating that they were done...this is true speed bridge :P
