3-(4)-?

I suppose we agree this hand is worth a force to slam, even at this colors? Since 7 might be lay-down, how do you try to decide about 6 vs 7?

The only thing that concerns me on this hand is the KJ of Spades.

If partnership agreement requires one of the top three honors for a 3 opening then I'm just going to punt 7.

I expect to have plenty of entries to establish the Club suit. If I need to fall back on a finesse, I expect that the King or Queen will be in the pocket.

I would bid keycard and 7 if partner shows a keycard. He is probably 10 times as likely to hold the SK as the HA, and this caters to partner showing 0 so I won't just bid 7 now.

5NT "grand slam force" from me as well.

p.s. I believe I recognise this and a few of the companion hands you have put up from a very impressive last set recovery a year or so back. Am I right?

5N GSF asks for 2 of top 3 trump honors. Question: have you agreed with partner on what to do if less than 2 of top 3? If you bid 5N and partner bids 6C/6D/6H/6S - Does one of these show the king?

Since I am not sure, I bid 4N and bid 7 if partner shows a keycard.

6=ace or king

6=queen

6=none, but extra lenght

6=nothing

That's the standard responses to the grand slam force where I play.

Good job Frances. Yeah, all these posts should belong into a "World-Class Bridge" subforum.

I will write a longer post later on what happened.

Here, both tables started with 4N, so I assume they did not have a GSF available that can ask for one trump honor.

I like 6 bid (unless partner takes it as natural),

the meaning is obvious: I want play 6 or 7 and I have heart void, what is your opinion?

fine, but partner might have problems finding wha tis good to bid 7, Kxxxxx is probably not good enough for him.
