gwnn
what would you lead? xQJAQJxxAJTxx MP all white mediocre opps after the auction (1♠)-2NT(6 or fewer losers)-(p)-4♣(invitational);(4♥)-5♣-(p)*-p(5♥)-X-(5♠)-Xa.p.*=maybe a sign of a hesitation. not nearly enough to call for the TD. bid_em_up
A trump and a heart are both out. So which minor am I leading? While this could well be wrong, I am more concerned about declarer being 6-5-0-2, than I am his being 6-5-2-0. If he is the former, and I lead the A♦, dummy may well have the K♦, as declarer ruffs, crosses to dummy with a heart or a trump and disposes of one of his clubs. Yes, he could just as easily ruff the A♣, and cross to dummy, and take a pitch on dummies K♣. Partner did bid 4C invitationally, hopefully he has the K♣. If I am supposed to infer that dummy may well have Kx or Kxx♣ by his "slight" hesitation, I just won't do it. Especially not if it is while playing online. So I lead the A♣. EDIT: A close 2nd choice was a small club so that partner can win and play a diamond through declarer. However, this will look really foolish if declarer holds the stiff K♣ or dummy holds Kx(x) and wins. So I still lead the A.
