Guest Jlall
5H...wtf lol edit: i saw the hands wrong I thought south had 2 little hearts and bid 5H. I hate easts bidding, he should just bid 2S over 2H and 4C (or 4H) over 3H pass pass. A lot of people don't play 3D as forcing (but I do). pbleighton
I understand 2H, pd should know it's light from the bidding, but 5H is nuts after pd only bid 3, and you passed (I would have raised to 4). You are guaranteed to play doubled and go down. Peter

Fluffy
I blame the hand for fitting so perfectly

Would you consider "standard" for 3♦ to be forcing or NF in this auction?
Guest Jlall
Would you consider "standard" for 3♦ to be forcing or NF in this auction? yes, unfortunately (since I don't like that method), but I'm not sure. I just think that east should do a ton more than he did opposite a 2C bid with the opps bidding and raising hearts. I mean if he had 1 bid for his life over 2C it should be 6C, and he didnt even really try for it.
Finch
East never got his hand off his chest - started with a non-forcing 3D bid (when as justin says 6C would be more descriptive), and then jumped to 5C. But West takes some of the blame... what was the double of 5H? Partner has shown diamonds and clubs and he has perfect diamond cards... inquiry
East gets all the blame. How can WEST envision EAST with first round control and every suit, and the AKx of clubs (the suit WEST bid) after the non-forcing 3♦ bid. 3♦ is just not a possible bid with such a monster hand. The later jump to 5♣ does not undo the misdescription of the hand. After 3♦, there is just no way bid the hand and no other bids make any difference. If south had passed 3♦ that is where the hand would be played.
twcho
Although Grand is making in this hand but surely even 5!c is not cold if Club break 31 and D41. So don't think it is such a major accident though I agree that east didn't show his big hand at all
