1eyedjack
Hmm, that ♥7 is a real bugger. Don't know what to do, now :)I want to force. I know partner could be flat broke but also he might not raise a game try when it is right. 2♥ is strong but NF for me, and 3♥ overstates the Hearts, so it is down to some number of NT. I went for 3, and hope I don't get a ♣ lead. I expect the majority vote will be 2NT.
Guest Jlall
I would bid 2S. You need pretty much nothing for game.
42
Justin, what do you expect partner to bid after 2♠? NT is out, he won't bid 3 cards of ♥, so the most likely bid will be 3♣ or 3♦, or? And then? Going for ♥s then? Raise ♦s?
pbleighton
Who knows what's right, so I bid 5D. Peter

I may very well miss slam here, as usual after rho opens at one level in second seat. If partner opens on junk in first seat even more likely to miss slam. If I x and then cue and then bid a new suit at 3 level, I think this shows more than a minumum hand. :)
Fluffy
I am bidding game for sure, question is wich one. 2♥ is not forcing and 2♠-3♦-3♥ will get probably above 3NT. I think a practical 3NT is in order.
Codo
There is no need to rush to game. So 2 Spade is it. If Pd will bid something strong like a jump or 3 Spade, I am in Slam within nanoseconds.Of course more likely he will bid something weak. If this bid is 3 Club, I will show my support with 3 Diamond. If he bids 3 Diamonds himself I would bid 3 NT and hope that he gets the message.
42
[hv=d=n&v=b&n=s109xhdj987xxc9xxx&s=saqxhaj7xxdaqxxca]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Lead: ♠8. After a long thought I chickenlike decided to bid 2♥ (my second choice would have been 2♠, third choice 3NT) which became the final contract. Due to a bad defence I made the contract  The ♦K was a singleton and therefore the slam in ♦ was cold, also immediately analyzed by opps.I knew that my bid was nonforcing, but with such a weak 6card ♦-suit I would have been bidding 3♦ with the N hand because it is completely worthless in a ♥-contract, imo. Hit me, please ;) Would anyone bid the ♦-slam?? I think it isn't biddable, but who am I? @Jillybean: I only mentioned the ♥7 to underline the bad quality of the ♥-suit. And I like 7s, not as much as 42s, but still... Best is ♦7 and to make the last trick with it for a beer or 2 :) :-*
1eyedjack
Do you still get a beer if the Diamond 7 is in the trump suit?
dake50
2S then if partner repeats 3D, Bw then 5NT to show all A and suggest DKxxxxx to grand.
skjaeran
2S then if partner repeats 3D, Bw then 5NT to show all A and suggest DKxxxxx to grand. So you want to force to slam vs Txxx xx Txxxx Qx?
Winstonm
So far not much problem - 2S. The harder part comes after this. A good area to have discussed before it comes up.
Mr. Dodgy
Do you still get a beer if the Diamond 7 is in the trump suit? In Australia you do B) 2♠
mhais
B) i think 2h is forcing for 1 round i nave dbld first & now bidding my suit inviting pd 2 describe hand further.
42
OT: Making the last trick with ♦7 in the trump suit is worth 2 beers B) Back to this hand:I wonder which contract would be reached when it could be opened in first seat. Does anyone open 2♣??I think I would open 2NT, but then it is not clear how the bidding proceeds, since 3♣ ist (puppet-)stayman. Will partner bid game with his 6th ♦J? Yes, Winston, I saw also that we will have some problems after 2♠ where the strong hand is still undescribed according to distribution. But it seems that I am very lonely with my pessimistic view... And as the cards lie, the optimists are right :)

P_Marlowe
Hi, I voted for 4D, but anything could be right, the main problem with 2S is, that partner wonthave a sensible bid, which just leaves me guessingthe next round. With kind regardsMarlowe
Winstonm
Yes, Winston, I saw also that we will have some problems after 2♠ where the strong hand is still undescribed according to distribution. But it seems that I am very lonely with my pessimistic view... And as the cards lie, the optimists are right This sequence comes up now and again so it is wise to have some type agreement in place - my personal thinking is that this double-then-cue should be considered a "request for further clarification". How to continue from there is up for grabs.2NT could be used to deny much shape or interest, but loses a natural encouraging meaning, although I think this loss not overly substantial and it leaves a rebid to show length and weakness. (2N would be a handy 'bad hand/bad shape' bid if you were forced to bid a 3-card minor.)
whereagles
I would bid 2♥. There's no rule against pard having 3 hearts, is there? :) With his actual hand, pard should probably insist on diams with 3♦. Why not passing 2♥? Simple: if doubler had a really cool heart 1-suiter, he would have rebid 3♥ instead of 2♥.
