You finish in 6 by South in a team match

opps lead a 7 of diamonds to the J and K

You cash A and Q appears from West

You unblock A and J appears from East...

How do u play from here?

Does your plan differ if West is a weak player or a strong player ....

Prob not the best plan, but bored so I'll take a stab at making 7 :).

Cross to dummy with a diamond.

Play a top club pitching a diamond if east doesn't rough in. If they do and rough high, overtrump and cross back with a heart. If they do and trump low, overtrump, play a high trump, and cross back to dummy with a trump to take your 4 pitches.

If both follow to the 2nd club: Run the 10 of hearts. If hearts are 2-2, then after covering the J you can cross back to dummy with a trump to pitch your 3 spades.

If the 10 holds and hearts are 3-1. Run clubs pitching your 3 spades. When righty roughs in, overtrump and cross back with a heart for the remaining pitches.

If the HQ is a singleton you make either by crossing in diamonds and taking a heart finesse, or by crossing in diamonds and starting to play clubs.

Is there anything you can do if the HQ is from QJ doubleton?

Taking the heart finesse certainly goes off.

Running clubs through RHO makes if LHO has QJ doubleton heart and 4(5) low clubs. That's a mild extra change, so makes crossing in diamonds and running clubs slightly better than taking the heart finesse: it doesn't seem to lose anything.

How about cashing the hearts from the top? That feels worse: it picks up QJ doubleton or the same hand having Jxx and 4 clubs, but I really don't think any East would find the play of the CJ from Jxxx. J, Jx, Jxx yes, Jxxx no.
