pbleighton
Can anyone detail these, or give a link? Also, if you have played them, how do they compare to Stayman/transfers, and would they work well with a weak or mini notrump? Peter
hrothgar
I've heard really good things about Keri and am strongly considering shifting to use this over MOSCITO's weak NT. With this said and done, I don't have a good write up handy. I've heard that the best reference is Bid Better, Much Better, After Opening 1NT by Klinger. irdoz
I really like the Keri structure. I am not going to type up the whole thing (it covers 6 pages in Klingers book).. But here's the basic framework... 2c / 2d / 2h/ 2nt are all transfers to diamonds/hearts/spades/clubs respectively and can be passed After 1nt-2c-2d then2h = 4h GI2s = 4s GI2nt = artificial GF asking about openers major holdings3c = 6+ cl GI3d = 6+d GI3h = 4h/5d GF3s = 4s/5d GF3nt = 5d-3-3-2 slam invite4c = 6d/4c slam invite+4d = 6+d club void in clubs slam invite+4h/4s = 6+d void in bid major, slam invite+4nt = rkc diamonds After 1nt-2d-2h then2s = s/h 4-4, 5-4, 5-5 GI2nt = 5h and a 4 card minor GF+3c = 5h/5c GF+3d = 5h/5d GF+3h = 6+h GI3s = 5h, 4s GF3nt = choice of games (pass or 4h)4c/4d = 6h, void in bid suit slam invite4h = 6h void in spades, slam invite4s = 5s, 5h slam invite4nt = 6h-3-3-2 slam invite After 1nt-2h-2s then2nt = 5s/4minor GF3c/3d = 5spades/5m GF+3h = 5s/4h GF3s = 6s GI3nt = choice of games4c/4d = 5s, void in bid suit, slam invite4h = 5,5 majors pass or correct4s = 6s, void in h, slam invite After 1nt-2nt-3c then3d - 4/4 minors GF3h = 5c/4h GF3s = 5c/4s GF3nt = 5-3-3-2 slam invite4c = 6c, 4d slam invite4d/4h/4s = 6cl, void in bid suit, slam invite4nt = rkc clubs 1nt-2s is a range enquiry...1nt-3suit are GF 3 suiters (bid the suit below the shortage, 3s = club short) There's a lot more detail to the structure than this..and Im doing it from memory (a detail might be slightly wrong) - I've lent the book to a friend - unless thehog or someone who has the book posts Ill post more detail when I get the book back. the hog
I have just read this post. I have a detailed write up prepared by an ex pd with whom I played it. I can send it to anyone who wishes a copy.Fwiw I personally believe that this is the best structure over a NT - weak or strong - bar none! I believe the only reason it has not become more popular to this date is that it does require a bit of work. It can also be used as a type of 2 way checkback over a 1NT rebid by opener.
