system over nat overcall?

Recommended Posts

We use (1NT)-2M as a natural overcall, usually 6 decent cards (solid values vs weak NT, potential noise vs strong NT). What's the best structure over this? We really like Robson-Segal, but would that mean that almost every response is fitted? Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

You can treat this overcall in the same way as (1x) 2y (non-jump)

(1NT) 2M

Now advancer bids:

2 (over 2) = F1, constructive

2NT = fit, inv+

3m = F1, constructive (fit-bid if by passed hand)

3M = noise

Easy, no? :P

I happen to like...

2NT=invitational, forcing to 3M.

3M=noise, interest in sacrificing over their game bid.

new suit= constructive, NOT forcing.

Jump in a suit= Splinter.

I don't like generic new suit forcing, not when the opponents have some strength...you only really need new suit forcing when slam is a possibility. Fit bids should work, I would think.
