just another 3HCP suit

The hand diagram is hard to read.

It says dealer East, vul EW, which makes us second at favourable.

The bidding diagram has two dashes before the first P, which I think also makes us South in second seat at favourable vul; it's just the P hasn't lined up properly beneath the E.

Second seat favourable it's clear to open 5D. I'd rather have a top diamond honour, but I didn't turn up to under-pre-empt on a 10-card suit.

On a couple of other threads many agreed that partner should/could raise 5 to 6 on a void if he expected no outside losers.

With that in mind, I'd expect some more to argue against a 5 opening here.

Not that it matters much to me - I open 5 anyway.

Yes, I would agree to that too. If partner has a small singleton rather than a void and no outside losers, then 6D is a 52% contract (although it will be doubled if they aren't 1-1)

I don't design my bidding agreements to cover holding a 10-card suit without the ace or king.

5D, what else?

1, maybe? ;)

Hmmm, unfortunately partner is too likely to take it seriously.

I prefer 6 over 4D or 5D. The maximum it can go for is 800, but it will usually only be 500 or less. 6D applies the maximum pressure to the opponents, one of which is already a passed hand.

It prevents a 5D-(6D) or 5D-x-p-(6D) auction by the opponents, at least one of which is likely holding 10 major suit cards and diamond void.

I wont feel like I need to bid again over wherever the opponents end up. I put as much pressure on as I reasonably could and they've had to guess at the 6 level.
