inquiry
Helloon January 31th I reported a player for abusive language and sent to abuse the snapshot of the chat.Well, this person is still playing at BBO and, as far as I know, he is keeping insulting other people without any reason. :) What it is going on? Hello, I am one of the BBO yellows, so this is an area I know about. When you report a player for abusive language, they will be investigate. Having a snapshot of the violation, like you did, is a great help. When your report is turned in, here is what happens,You send an email and abuse will confirm that abusive event happened.IF it did, abuse will check the person "records" (see if we have ever had other reports of similar bad behavior).Check for mitigating circumstances... was some rude to them first. Rudeness is never acceptib.le but retaliation for rude comments sent to them might reduce any sanctions imposedDertermine the appropriate level of official BBO response. Which could be anything from: ignore the complaint, record it for future reference, issue a reminder of the rules, issue a warning or stern warning, issue a short BBO site ban, or permanently ban the player (anything above ignore will have a record of the action kept for future reference).A few things can go awry in this process. First, abuse is one person, and they take a day or two off from time-to-time. Second, due to the amount of spam that gets sent to the abuse email address, it is my understanding that there is an automatic confirmation email that is sent to people requesting abuse look at something and that you have to reply to that email or your complaint email will never be seen. Third, if a player gets a warning or a reminder of the rules, it will appear to person who reported the incident that nothing happened). Fourth, BBO has only modest ability to truly keep people out. The reason being that we require no "proof" of indentity. I will not go into it, but while most people who have been banned from the site can be kept out, some people who have been permanently banned continue to find their way back in. In the case you describe, I suspect either the person was "warning" or given a short ban, or that you failed to respond to the automatically genearted email back to you from abuse asking to confirm that this was a real BBO abuse case (rather than a spam email). Should you witness this same person using abusive langauage, sent a BBO message to me (inquiry) even if I a am not online at the time with his username, and we will investigate it. Alternatively, if he is actively using abusive language, you can report it to ANY BBO YELLOW who is on line at the time... try to find one of them who is not PLAYING at a table at the time. Fluffy
I have reported several times to abuse or support, and I think only once received an answer of what was going on, now I feel it is not my business, I just help BBO to keep them off (even though I know I could get back if banned), and don't expect the to lose their valuable time reporting me their decisions (mainly because this will often get a response of why I don't think their decision is the one I was looking for, and mak them lose even more time)
