4 is the usual expected contract, but on this particular table the contract was 6x (South) after some mistake in the bidding by South.

The auction was

W N E S

- - P 1

1 1 P 2*

P 4NT P 5

P 6 P P

X P P P

*: ?? I dunno what this was about, a poor bid

Lead A. Now this is getting interesting...difficult but not impossible

Plan your play. I'll reveal the whole deal later.

ruff

then ruff again but in hand

draw trumps

claim?

EDIT: sorry too fast

ruff

ruff in hand

2 clubs ending in dummy

ruff a heart

get the last trump

claim.

Well, I would take a slight different route. I would ruff one H only. If H were 4-1, unless RHO has 1 heart and 3 clubs, to ruff second H wouldn't help.

1. ruff in dummy

2. ruff H in hand

3. C to Q

4&5. Draw two more rounds of trumps (if trumps are 4-1, we are dead).

6. claim (D KJ as entry to H).

West North East South

 -     -     Pass  1

 1    1    Pass  2

 Pass  4NT   Pass  5

 Pass  6    Pass  Pass

 Dbl   Pass  Pass  Pass

As you can see, 6 is obviously -1 here. That is, if you love your hand too much to try 6, not knowing your p is void, and the Q, A are both absent...in fact many (>3 out of 16) pairs did go for 6...

ironically, 6 is possible, even double dummy. However, nobody except this table discovered the use of as a trump suit (let alone slam)...for 14.6 IMP

what do u think here? is the fit worth going for?

P.S. After u ruff the lead, most of u would go for a ruff back to hand at trick 2. would your subdequent line change if LHO false-carded the J? (In fact, this was what happened there.)
