Finch
The first three boards of the set I watched yesterday were (or should have been) boring flat games. Then along comes this one: [hv=d=w&v=e&n=skqj52h107dk52cq74&s=shaq8642dqj109876c]133|200|Scoring: IMPP 1♠ 3♣ 3♥3♠ P 5♣ 5♦P P 6♣ 6♦ x P P P[/hv] (3C was a "very sound" weak jump; 3S a good raise in clubs) [Edit: a club is led to RHO's 10, which you ruff - thanks Gerben!] Looking at a double void, your main concern is usually to play the hand. That you have achieved, and - if the heart finesse is right - you even have a chance to make this. However, there is one minor difficulty. What is it? How do you overcome it? Gerben42
Just for completeness a ♣ was led and you ruff it.
brianshark
Hmm... might not have entry to take ♥ finesse if ♦s are 3-0 (probably 3 with LHO). I need ♥s 3-2 so only need one ruff. I think I'll lead ♦Q and if LHO follows small, overtake with K and pray it holds.
goobers
Ugh, how am I getting into dummy... Did my spots really have to be that good? I guess I'll lead the ♦Q and overtake with the K...
