Guest Jlall
minimum is about a reasonable opening hand with 3+ spades (or the equivalent in support points). I would equate it to the same minimum as 1S-(3H)-4H. I would just bid 4S with this hand.
Finch
The minimum is a hand that can envisage a slam as a possibility opposite a partner limited by the 3S overcall. I agree with justin - I would just bid 4S here. We could be missing slam, but it needs a pretty perfect hand opposite.

Give me a reasonable 10-count and I can probably construct a hand that would overcall 3S and makes slam. But I think that 4H shows a better hand than that. I think an opening hand that is somewhat suitable for slam is a more workable definition (though I imagine that in practice it is the same). brianshark
Hmm...I can't help but find myself bidding 5♥ here.
Fluffy
I'll bid 5♥ althou I don't like the like the lack of support from LHO. Am I the only one to find double as a reasonable alternative to 3♠?
brianshark
I wouldn't double because I wouldn't feel comfortable if it was left in, and because a double implies 4♠s rather than 5 and we may miss a 5-3 fit that way.
Stephen Tu
So I bid 4♠, partner thinks about making another move but then just tables♠Qxx ♥Ax ♦KJ9xx ♣Axx I thought all bids were somewhat reasonable, but 6♦ is excellent, and spades break so 6♠ is OK. Our teammates bid 5♥ over 3♠ which provoked 5♠ ... 6♠ Should someone clearly bid more or differently or is this just unlucky guessing? inquiry
No one considered a forcing 4♦ over 3♠ followed by some sort of spade raise? Why play with your hands tied behind your back?

Free
I'd like to bid 5♦ but I'm borderline weak and the suit is just poor. Nevertheless, I'm a bidder (sometimes too much  )...
pclayton
I am limited by my 3♠ call, since I didn't double or bid 4♠. Its certainly vague, but pard should have an opening bid and maybe a little extra. I have a 6 loser hand. My ♥ void is pretty useful, although I'd rather have a 6th trump. The 5 level may be in jeopardy, but I think there's a lot more hands that we make 6 than go down in 5. I'd try 5♦.
