mike777
As we Sabine lovers know, she loves to overcall 2c over 1d on junk or semijunk. At nv vs nv if opp open 1D in first seat, what is your worst 2club overcall and why?
paulg
My regular partner bid it on ♠ x♥ xx♦ AQxx♣ Qxxxxx although it was vul vs vul. Like Auken we play that 3♣ is conventional and so is not available as a weak jump and this influences bids as well. p
jchiu
[hv=v=n&s=sxxhxxdxxxcak109xx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Although I don't have 3♣ reserved as some sort of Ghestem or Roman overcall, some partners will not be surprised with my overcall on this hand. whereagles
I think I did it once, at love all, with something like xxxxQxxxKQT9x
pbleighton
A partner once did it (both vul) on something like x-Jxx-xx-Q109xxxx. Peter
mike777
I think these posts say we have left the junkyard and entered the insane asylum. :)
Free
If you really mean "junk", you shouldn't have a good 6 card suit. :) Give me a decent 5 card suit, that partner can lead. It's actually common sense that 1♦-2♣ is more preemptive than say 1♠-2♣. In the first situation you take away almost an entire level away, while in the second auction you don't take anything away (only 1NT, but who misses this?). Same goes for 1♣-2♦ vs 1♣-1♦: the 2♦ bid should be quite often, 1♦ must be a strong hand or have some conventional meaning imo.
Fluffy
I did it once with a 5 card suit, didn't like my ♠ singleton for 1NT overcall.
