helene_t
My first thought was to bid 3♠, just follwoing the LOTT. Maybe it will encourage p to double 4♦, but then I can always bid 4♠. But I don't think South would raise 3♠ anyway. Nobody to blame. Besides, you're above PAR, since opps can make 5♦.
Gerben42
I would raise to 3♠ right away after 2♠. Passing twice is well... passive. I come to this conclusion using the box method. Having passed 2♦ you do not have a good hand. Yet you have 4-card support and a singleton, partner has shown 18+ with good ♠. You owe him a bid! Finch
If I trusted partner, I would have raised 2S to 3S immediately (not over 3D), and it's closer to a 4S bid than a pass. Double- then-bid traditionally shows a very strong hand. Somewhat surprisingly, partner actually had a very strong hand and bid impeccably. whereagles
Agree with frances, including the comment about pard's nice bidding :)
brianshark
I think I'd have bid 3♠ over 2♠. Not easy to find game though.
hotShot
Partner showed a strong hand with ♠ and I have 4card support and shortage in opps suit.I would bid 3♠, and i would have bid it over 2♠.
dake50
I would have raised to 3S over 2S: 4-support with single= likely 2 tricks added to his near 8 auction.
Goreny
I do not know exactly - I sympathize with Albrecht's passes (without such a good side suit fits with so much ruffing values no chance for 4♠), but if I think that opponents can be in cold 3NT or minor game, may be I'd choose 4♠ reply over 3♦
han
I would have bid 4S directly over 2S.
mike777
I found this to be an excellent thread and wanted to say thank you for posting it.Needless to say I thought this was a tougher one than the other posters. thanks.I find it a bit exasperating that so many found it pretty easy, sigh. :)
BebopKid
I would have passed. Partner's double to me denied the length in spades. I don't see partner having that holding with that bid.
cherdano
I would have passed. Partner's double to me denied the length in spades. I don't see partner having that holding with that bid. Double of 1N is a takeout double of spades. That is either takeout shape, or a very strong hand. Bidding 2♠ later shows the very strong hand (not, this is not balancing, this was a planned auction). Not raising with 4-card support and a singleton is criminal.
jikl
I would have bid 3♠ over 2♠ immediately, we may not have got to game, depends how aggressive partner is feeling. Sean
