gwnn
in MP's you get to a grand slam: [hv=n=sjhk8xdaktxxxcaxx&s=saqxxhaqj9xxdcqxx]133|200|7♥, no clue from opps[/hv] Opps lead a small club. What's the best line to make?
jtfanclub
Well, huh. I'll assume no 6-2 spade split or 6-1 diamond split. Win on the board, ruff diammond, A♠, ruff spade, ruff diamond, ruff spade, ruff diamond high, draw trumps, club to the A, AKT of diamonds, sluffing my last three losers. I don't see any squeeze available if LHO has the black kings and RHO has 6 diamonds. But this is the expert forum, so there must be a way. Free
Ben: is there a reason to ruff the ♠ before cashing ♦AK, and not the other way around?
inquiry
Ben: is there a reason to ruff the ♠ before cashing ♦AK, and not the other way around? ♠K might fall after one ♠ ruff, and if so, we can afford one round of trumps before the two top diamonds. Unlikely, but that could be the difference if someone (who was quiet) had singleton diamond and singleton trump. We would win 2S, 2D, 1C, 2S ruffs in dummy and our 6♥'s. But it can hardly hurt to play it correctly even if someone being 6511 or 7411 and choose not to bid is unlikely.
jtfanclub
I apologize...for some reason, I read the opening lead as the 7!H. Never mind!
