Winstonm
When the stated goals defy logic, you start to believe the stated goals are a smokescreen to hide a different agenda - it wouldn't take much of a push to set the entire region aflame, and plans are being made for airstrikes against Iran even as Gates and Bush deny a plan for war. http://www.guardian.co.uk/iran/story/0,,20...usrc=rss&feed=1 Madam Speaker, perhaps it is time to place impeachment back on the table. Perhaps, but I prefer a simpler explanation - stubbornness and stupidity. These guys are really clueless. Peter

Peter I wish it were that simple, but Wolfowitz, Kristol, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Bush and the others are extremely bright - arrogantly so - it is the arrogance that is the problem. They are also followers of the teachings of Strauss, which of itself makes it dangerous to place them in positions of power.
jikl
Did you just say Bush was extremely bright? Sean

You can have a high IQ and still be stupid. Peter
BebopKid
You can have a high IQ and still be stupid. Peter I actually agree with you on that statement, Peter.
Winstonm
I don't think that is exactly right - you can have a high IQ and still do dumb things is more apt. You can be smart and foolish. But I think being smart and being stupid are mutually exclusive. And it takes someone extremely bright to pretend to be stupid and pull it off believably. pbleighton
"But I think being smart and being stupid are mutually exclusive." Well, I guess it depends on your definition, but you can be very bright and be so either lacking in common sense (which may be a result of an unfortunate belief system) that you are effectively stupid.
