mrdct
I prepare written reports for some of the BBO matches I organise and make use of the export to text function in BBO. For those unfamiliar with it, you simply open a LIN file, click the printer icon and then say yes to "Export to Text File". I think the format of the text file could be improved in a few ways: 1. Put the board number, vul and dealer info in a corner to save some space. At present the hand diagram consumes 20 lines, where it could be done in 12 lines. 2. Get rid of the north, south, east and west lables in the hand diagram. 3. Put "!" next to alerted bids. Even better use (1), (2), (3), etc and footnote the actual explanations of the bids. 4. Have a running score after each board.

Thus, it maynot be worth Fred's efforts to fix it. However, you may want to consider BridgeBrowser if this stuff is important to you. Take a look at this, to save space, i only printed out 4 hands from one of the very popular 26 board Cayne team matches, it could have just as easily been 4000....Note, when printed the spaceing is perfect, posting here gets it out of alignment ======================================== C:\Documents and Settings\Desktop\jec.txt Produced by BRidgeBRowser on 10-Feb-07 ======================================== IMP-1707 smispi Dlr: North Board 9 S AQ92 Vul: E-W H KJ4 tokay1975 D 3 yakop S 876 C KJT92 S J54 H 875 H 62 D KQ762 jec D AJ9854 C 53 S KT3 C Q4 H AQT93 D T C A876 01-Dec-06 1:12:15 AM First 1:11:03 AM, Last 1:12:15 AM West North East South tokay1975 smispi yakop jec 1C Pass 1H Pass 1S! As you can see, it gives board number, dealer, vulnerability, and consumes only 11 lines for such. 2. it adds players names to the printout (not North, south, east or west), or you can use compass directions if you like. You can also make any player at the bottom of the hand diagram (true south, or player of your choice). 3. there is ! next to alert, and alerts are explained below the bids (see boards 9 and 12 above) 4. Ok, you got me, can't do running score PER BOARD, but a final score is given at the end of the printout, let;s call it a half match. Add to that you can search by 100's of different combinations (suit quality, hcp, distributions, partners, opponents, vulnerability, dealer, contract, opening bid, overcall, other specific auctions, final contracts, player, partner, opponent, type of scoring, doubled, redoubled, response, overcall, rebid, opening lead, etc).. and yuo can output into text, html, pbn, and others. And, the data is online and very much upto date lately.
