Echognome
What did my double mean and why on earth did I double? We were very lucky to find partner with 12-14 of the outstanding 14-16 hcp. Hmm. Partner is leading from either Qxx(x) or Jxx(x), neither of which are attractive, but in particular Jxx(x). So I play the K and the A (in case partner has lead from Jxxx). Then decide what I need to do next. (My inclination is to switch to a small heart.) We do not have any agreements on signalling here. What interest me is whether you want to shift to a red suit and arguments for doing so.I dont care about the bidding, we got lucky :-)
pclayton
The spade tricks aren't going anywhere. I'd rather use my spade entries to get pard off a possible endplay, so I'll shift to a now heart. A ♦ isn't attractive with T9x in dummy.
