dosxtres
negative doubles 1♣ (1♦) ? Is this correct or what is? 1º. With only one four card major, bid it2º With 54/64 in majors, bid your longest3º With exactly 44 in majors, double If this is correct, so, without a 4 card major and without club support: 1n 6-102n 10-123n 13-15 is this correct until here? ok, what happens if you dont have a diamond stopper? double and bid NT at the properly level of your hcp?your partner must understand you dont have a 4 card major and that you dont have a diamond stopper? Now, you have both 4 card major, next step, support 1♣ (1♦) x1♥ pass ?? 2♥ 6-103♥ or cue diamond? what's the difference? 2♦ shows support or is asking for a diamond stopper or half stopper without heart support? what would be the meaning of 3D instead of double or after p shows a major? ty all,
P_Marlowe
Hi, - 1-3 are fine.- with no 4 card mayor, and no 4 card clubs, you have 4 cards in diamond, Jxxx can be considered a stopper, the same is probably true for Txxx Assuming, you have 9xxx or smaller in diamonds: - with 6-10, pass - with +10, you can double (promising 4-4 in the mayor) and cancel the message via a cue bid, asking for a stopper or you can pass, and bid 2D after partner reopens the bidding, which he will do with shortage, and he will be short ... With kind regardsMarlowe
Apollo81
1♣-(1♦)-Dbl shows 4+ in each major. Thus: One 4-card major: bid it.4-4 majors: double.5-4 majors: double if weak, respond longer major if strong. This is because you cannot play in 2♥ in an auction like 1♣-1♠-2♣. Also see below.6-4 majors: same as above. Also see below.5-5 majors: respond 1♠. This is to help opener if he is 2-3 majors after an auction like 1♣-1♠-1NT-2♥. If responder cannot be 5-4 or 6-4 then opener knows to pass with 2-3 in the majors. If responder could have all three shapes then opener would have to guess. NT responses are as you described. It's a little unclear what the rest of your post is asking. Hands with major(s) respond as above. Hands without a major can pass, bid NT, or raise clubs. I don't recommend responder introducing NT without a diamond stopper in this auction.
