flytoox
Opps playing precision, you sit south holding:S:--H:TXXXD:AKQXXC:QJXX W N E S1C(!)P 1D P1S P P X2S P P ?? Do you agree with the first pass and the first balancing dbl?

keylime
That's a pretty good hand in the context of the auction. Admittedly I probably bid 1NT (minors) and hope I'm not caught speeding.
mike777
wow so much for bidding our longest and best suit first and then deciding what to do next oh well..... No way 2d can be 2 suited in a strong club auction without agreement.
whereagles
I would probably have bid 2♦ before. Anyway, I double again. Sounds like the 1♣ opener might be in a lot of trouble... responder is weak, pard should have something and likely trump tricks as well, opener's finesses will fail.. etc. The only danger is pard selecting the wrong lead and blowing a trick in the process (having bid 2♦ the round before would have skipped this problem.. ehehe).. hotShot
Opps playing precision, you sit south holding:S:--H:TXXXD:AKQXXC:QJXX W N E S1C(!)P 1D P1S P P X2S P P ?? Do you agree with the first pass and the first balancing dbl? I don't agree with the action taken.Opps exchanged the info that one has 16+ hcp and the other has 0-7.This means that they don't know who's hand this is and whether they have enough to reach game. Most important they don't know anything about distribution and fit. Your x showing ♠ shortness is very helpful to W, it tells him, that E is likely to have♠ support and where he should look for the trumps and how to plan the best play of the side suits knowing they will break badly too. You know that they will end up playing ♠ (or something else) finding some (very) bad trump break.By bidding pass and dbl you gave them an opportunity to further exchange information on cheap level. If you bid 2♦ instead of pass, opener can't bid 1♠. He and his partner is will be left with a little more uncertainty about partners strength and distribution and may not reach their best spot to play.
