pclayton
IMPs, all red. ♠---♥AQJ♦AKQxx♣K9xxx (1♣)-1♦-(1♥)-2♠*(3♥)-3NT-(pass)-5♦(pass)-??? *weak Pass. I don't we have a lot of losers off the top here, but we probably have plenty off the bottom. 5♦ is high enough. Sounds like my monkey has something like: ♠AJxxxx, ♥xx, ♦Jxxx, ♣x. Are you 100% sure this pard didn't make a fit jump? Because thats what the auction sounds like to me.
Apollo81
the agreement in use was "weak" obviously the 5♦ bid means it would qualify as a fit jump as well
Guest Jlall
pass.
mikeh
thinking is an overbid just where are you putting all those ♣ losers... not to mention that the ♥K may be offside...of course they may solve that for you on the opening lead, but my guess, after your 3N, is that they will put a trump on the table, or a club and a trump back. I've missed slams before, and I may have missed one here, but there are a lot of indications that I haven't.
Apollo81
pard's actual hand: xxxxxxxxJ10xxx--- trumps were led, the ♥K was onside
mikeh
well, another one missed B) Doesn't change my opinion of the correct call... as opposed to the call that worked... showing either my integrity or my stubborn refusal to consider myself to have been wrong :)

skjaeran
Where on earth did I find that 3NT bid?I'd never think of it, since I'd be quite sure NOT to make it. Pass and (hope to) go plus defending seems automatic. Now I'm happy to be in a game contract I expect to make. PASS
whereagles
pard's actual hand: xxxxxxxxJ10xxx--- trumps were led, the ♥K was onside wtf, 2♠ on that junk suit? This is a clear 5♦ bid :P No wonder people failed to get this one right.. lol

pclayton
Oddly; a direct 5♦ might get me to 6, but 2♠ sounds like pard doesn't have 5 trump.

Apollo81
yeah, other funny things about this hand: 5♦ was doubled by opener....then after the hand when overcaller was asked whether (s)he would have raised to 6 without the double, (s)he said "of course"
